Truth be told, I don't think I ever even questioned it, let alone noticed that Jim and Frank's characters were hardly - if ever - seen on the actual street.
Why Sherry Netherland, though? Who even remembers her? Despite Kevin and Joey's departures, it seems like Humphrey, Ingrid, Natasha, and/or Benny would be more memorable characters to bring back for the occasion . . . even though, as I understand it, I think some of those puppets have been...
I don't think that's quite right.
I know the Fix-It Shop used to have a "(Aqui) Se Habla Espanol" sign, but that would make sense, considering it was run by Luis (and later Maria as well).
And interestingly, it seemed like when they started doing new Grover/Johnson bits is when Frank started performing Grover again when he'd make his annual returns to the show.
Am I crazy, or didn't there used to be a version of the Bookworm song where the music actually continued playing after the song was finished, and was pulling back from the closed book in the library? I swear there was. . . .
At this point, I'd go so far as to include everything up to Season 39 as "classic." In spite of the differences in format and segments, the show as a whole seemed to maintain a mostly consistent feel and vibe up until then; Season 39 and after is when it starts feeling like a rather different...
