With Abrams not coming back for the sequel, I just hope we get a bit more time dedicated to the characters. I liked the new actors in this film a lot, but the actual characters weren't given much to do in the script besides run from danger and do fight scenes. The original trilogy was made up of...
Oh God, that I agree with you 100%. I hate how self importantly jaded the public can get. The whole "has been" thing, I swear some people never leave 6th grade. It's like they all want to be studio executives. Or arm chair critics. Either way, they want to prop themselves up by putting others...
Very, very true! I always think it's funny when people demand "dark stories for dark times." To me that often indicates their lives are probably quite comfortable and they want dark stories just so they can look deep and not too spoiled. If your life is truly difficult, you don't need stories to...
I was one of those people literally crying when I heard the news. But the way I see it, comedy isn't the opposite of sadness. We use comedy to combat the sadness and address the ills of society. Plus, his work was so vibrant, it feels like he's still alive when I watch it. I mean he had an...
Doesn't help when my family thinks comforting me means saying, "Look, not everyone gets married." I swear my family is utterly tone deaf. Or that old gem, "It's better to be alone than with the wrong person." Maybe both options kinda suck, did that ever occur to them? Certainly occurred to me...
Well as of tonight, that best friend and I are split up. And I'll probably have to throw the V-day gift I was going to give him into the garbage. Not just a boyfriend but one of the closest friends I've ever had. Apart from my parents, he was the only person in this world I felt truly...
Then again, maybe Kermit knew something we didn't back then. ;)
Oh he definitely does in that special. Watch the ending of Piggy's "You Light Up my Life" number.
Ehhh, in real life, it would be abuse, but in the context of a TV show, it's simply cartoon violence, meaning it's so obviously over the top goofy, you can't possibly take it seriously. There's a reason Richard Hunt said, "Human beings wouldn't work" with Muppet humor.
Plus this was before...
I do think if Cosby hadn't presented himself as such a conservative, the backlash wouldn't have been as severe. Does he deserve to be let off the hook? Definitely not. But is there a double standard? Definitely yes.
As far as separating art from artists, I think you have to try and look at it...
That will work as reassurance for a couple more years at least.
And I'm just honestly stating how life has been in how other people react. I can only survive on "Well I think I'm great" for so long. Sorry, not doing well today. Or ever much, heh.
So my "best friend" decided to be careless and say something stupid, even though he knows I'm pretty much always down on myself. Don't get me wrong, he is a great friend most of the time, he does a lot for me, and usually tries to make me feel better about myself. But occasionally, instead of...
Well yeah, it is awkward. Rowlf's trying to distract from the tension between Piggy and Kermit and then kinda decides he's wasting his time, lol.
And I believe he says, "I was playing the piano at the..." like trying to explain how he met Kermit, etc., which does at least make sense as a reason...
