1. Abby is a main character, Zoe isn't anymore.
2. Rudy's presence is to help teach about blended families. A monster and another monster becoming step-siblings doesn't convey that as well as a monster and a fairy become step-siblings.

The story was fine; Rudy's song ended on the bridge though, what's up with that? I feel like there should've been more of him being shown he's afraid of the others, but whatever.
I guess they didn't want to repeat too much from their last "dog" themed episode, so they just crammed a whole mess...

I have been told that they've tried writing him, and other classic characters, into scripts, but they eventually just get cut out through the process.
"Dumped?" Netflix has approximately 100 Million subscribers, and that probably doesn't count people who share passwords with others.
Regardless of whether or not everybody has Netflix, it's a viable outlet for content. Not every body has TV or even cable TV for that matter. Would you be humming...
See, but there's a difference between "understudy" and "guy who does Kermit for theme parks and cruise ships." The true magic of the character is diminished if you have 20 some odd people performing him around the country.

I can kind of sympathize with him sometimes. He was a performer on Sesame Street for awhile and had very few speaking parts, while newcomers like Joey were thrown into the regular rotation almost immediately.

As I said earlier, just because X characters by X performer are now done by X performer, doesn't mean it should apply to all characters and performers.
