Philadelphians are about to enter still another extended hot and humid heat wave tomorrow when we're back in the (UGH!) 90's thru at least the weekend. Today was close enough with a high of 88 and very muggy.
The Ronald McDonald commercials of the 70's and 80's were fun. (Who's the McBravest McClown of them all...) with Mayor McCheese don't you know!
The decades long Tootsie Roll commercial ("Mr. Turtle, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll?" "I've never made it...
Well today was humid but rainy and cloudy kept the temp to a much more comfortable 79F, 26C. Gonna get worse as this week goes on but at least today was somewhat of a rolaids (that's how to spell relief, remember? ;) ).
Lunch was a Double burger w/cheese and biggie fries at Wendy's...
I remember those. Especially the ones with the girl saying, "When I say three." Then the group of kids, "When she says three." "I want you to hit three times." "She wants us to hit three times." "Three times." Then they hit the drums three times.
There were also marching band ones with adults...
Woah ho! Just checked the newest update since it's past the top of the hour and we are ...............................................................
NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go all muppet fans across the globe!
Mine's on order from Amazon but didn't come today. I hope it doesn't come tomorrow because I won't be able to watch it tomorrow evening. It's a lot nicer getting a dvd or tape in the mail when you can open it up and pop it in right away. So hopefully it comes Thursday. :)
When I was seven I wrote Mr. Rogers and got a reply. And it was a personal reply, not a pre-printed form letter. Such a good man. And what's also neat is when he died I watched a special on tv about him and they said he saved all the letters children wrote him over the years.
You got me there, Red Dragon.
But have to mention these other classics:
"Hey, how about a nice Hawaiin punch?" "Sure" *Punch!*
"It's slinky it's slinky, such a wonderful toy. It's slinky it's slinky. It's fun for a girl or a boy. It's fun for a girl or a boy."
"That Big Red...
LOL ok, no wonder I was thinking I could have sworn the kids shouted "Empty!" first and yet seems like the clips ended with empty also!
Yeah so I got it now. In the classroom it is empty and then the kids rapidly file in with a sped up camera and then they say, "Full!" but then they file on out...
Yes for sure. Every time I've watched this movie, including tonight, I've thought about how visually attractive it is. That's one of the reasons it is a delight from start to finish for me.
Oh ok what I must have been thinking of was the time that SS had someone else start to run the store...
Oh yes. Saw it many times in the 70's. R-O-L-A-I-D-S! When I was little in the early 70's I would say to my parents, "No, it's spelled r-e-l-i-e-f isn't it?"
And one time as a teenager I went to the local 7-11 and bought a ton of junk food (doritos, doughnuts, soda, etc.) and the guy at the...
Remember the one where the girl says, "Beso", the spanish word for kiss? And there's a little boy about two sitting on the floor and she kisses him as she walks across the screen. He doesn't like it and cries a little. Then she comes back across from the other side and kisses his other cheek. He...
Thank you mike, yes that comes back to me now. And maybe in the subway one they strated with full first, whereas with the classroom it was empty at the beginning. Or vice versa!
Oh yeah even further examples of Ernie's cookie loving. But despite all these, there are two skits that would forever discredit Ernie as being an acceptable "cookie monster"!
(1) In the skit where Ernie cleans up the place in 15 seconds so he can win Bert's dessert, Bert says the dessert is...
Well I finally got around to watching "Follow That Bird" again. :D Been too long since I last watched it. A real delight, as always, from start (oh what a start! Oscar's anthem!) to finish (oh what a finish! The Count counting the credits! Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!). And The Count's line to Big...
Not sure if you've been on the past few days, Mike. Just saw your name in the list now and thought I'd put this thread up for you in case you missed it the first time. :)
I just mentioned in another thread how I ruined my appetite for any dinner due to eating snacks this afternoon. And I mentioned how that reminds me when Ernie did that with cookies. But I don't recall yet seeing that skit mentioned here so I searched for it and saw this thread.
Yeah, it's been...
The problem in this case is that I ate an entire bag of skittles (and it was a pretty large size bag). Hard to stop with those sometimes, the fruity taste is so good. (However, maybe since they aren't exactly easy to chew, I often find myself chewing the insides of my cheeks after a while...
