Poor Gilchrist interpretation. =)
The comic strip Muppets, after about the first half year of the run, became VERY simple yet very effective designwise, I would say ... (early on they were more complicated) ... but simplicity tends to be hard to copy and make it work. Would never work for...
My father's best work is a color children's book called "Night Lights and Pillowfights" .... which he did ages ago. He just got it back into print himself.

He just stopped doing Mudpie I guess, which is weird as it was the only personal sort of thing he was doing...
Frogboy: Whoaaaa. Greeeat cels. The Roger one up top is VERY Richard Williams, with the foreshortening and all. I normally can't see much of his style in Roger, but that hits it home. Neeeat.
Oooo, unfinished Clifford. Oo, Muppet mockups.
I'm glad somebody else has a copy of the Style Guide! Maybe if I can't find my own, you could be begged to scan it. =) At the Palisades site or whatever.
That a skeksis?
Sweet jumpin' criminy Rufus, you're a resin-sculpting genius! Jessica and Ray Stantz and everything is just gorgeous. Better than many sculpts sold in stores (Sideshow Toys' Monty Python/Dark Crystal figures, anyone?) I like how Jessica looks more old-fashioned than she...
The man who animated Roger Rabbit, Richard Williams, is about as far from Disney as you can get, and one of the greatest animators of our times. You can learn an immense amount from his work ... I highly recommend his book "The Animator's Survival Kit," and if you ever get a chance to research...
Geez, I have to look in the garage and find my old copy of this book. =) Sad to see it's so long out of print. Good book. I should find the illustrated "Muppet Show Book" too ...
>Interesting...and there is no distributor for any of these films of yours? Have they played the festival circuits? Not the big boy slike Sundance, but what about Slam Dance, LA filmfest, etc?
In the old days I made very small films ... not short, but not intended to be seen by a wide...
Hey Toastcrumbs ... my father had the style guide because he drew the Muppets comic strip which ran in the 80s, and also did some licensing art, mostly for the Muppet Babies and some Fraggle Rock stuff .... an excellent piece, that style guide. Have to find it and scan it if it's still around...
Little late on this, but would this thread be complete without another reply to beaker?
>Hehe, well I was rising high on the Blair Witch assumption...so for awhile there was hope camcorder movies would make it big.
The Animal Game was sort of a spoof of that. I deliberately avoided...
Hi gentle giant! Have you met Sweetums and Thog?
To reply to Beaker ...
>in the fall of 1999, I was planning on doing this indie film...shot entirely on one day(like the upcoming 'russian ark' or 2000'a 'time code') all around san francisco with dv based on this script i wrote called...
Just for fun, I did a concept painting of the dragon today. I definitely had the opening sequence of the Jim Henson Hour in the back of my mind as I did this ... very quickly done.
Lotta Friscoans ....
I'm Garrett Gilchrist, I'm 21 years old, in Los Angeles, California, and my favorite muppet is Kermit. An obvious choice, but oh so very true.
