Just caught a repeat of the episode. Carroll Spinney performed Big Bird live, and two other puppeteers manipulated Oscar to a pre-recorded voice by Carroll.
Such a lovely segment. I love the old school vibe some of this year's bits have. "Rhymes with Mando," for example, is like a classic engaging Sesame song like "Very Simple Dance," and this is very much a classic Big Bird song.
I saw a short story about this on CBS News last night and it made me unimaginably happy. As far as I'm concerned, the first season Grover and Cookie Monster puppets more than qualify for Smithsonian status :insatiable:
Well, I guess that's one way to tee me off.
I've thought about how to properly react to all this, and I don't mean to be too negative, get too off topic, over analyze, or whatever.
I just can't accept that my first post, which I felt I worked pretty hard on, is now no more (save for...
I noticed that too. I'd have to wonder if they went with that same tactic when they prepared the Count show, since Elmo's featured and that was filmed in December. I guess we'll have to wait 'till that airs, or if it pops up on the Sesame website before then.
Also, I'm happy to say I'm getting...
I'm pretty sure that was Matt Vogel performing the wolf in today's Word of the Day segment. I noticed the voice more closely resembled Jerry's than it did when Matt performed him last time in episode 4318.
Speaking of vocal differences, anyone else notice that Murray's voice has been toned...
I was actually kind of hoping Bert would appear at the tail end like last time, but ah well.
Ryan fared well as Elmo; incidentally, I was surprised to see a commercial for the Big Hugs Elmo toy (with voice clips by Kevin) shown during breaks. Also, Matt (who appeared to be doubling as Big...
Most of the celebrity segments were filmed this past summer. The only exception appears to be the "jealous" segment with Charlize Theron (viewable on Sesamestreet.org [link]). Kevin performs Elmo in that one, so I'm assuming that and the connecting street story (which includes Jerry as the...
Here's the passage concerning Emmet Otter and Christmas Toy, etched in stone. [link]
I was just thinking today about how Henson was already omitting most of Kermit's scenes in the 1990's edit of Otter before the buy-out. Seems to me like they thought his other cameos were superfluous; his...
Some (but presumably not all) of the bonus features for the upcoming release were just announced on StitchKingdom. The article boasts that it will be "a treasure trove of bonus features," which either means there's more features to be announced, or it'll mostly be MTI-oriented (I'm personally...
Here's a hi-res photo of that same puppet with Ricky Gervais. (courtesy of ToughPigs)
Note the crude, almost menacing eyes, and the short-pointed collar. Could this be the real Kermit, or is it... CONSTANTINE???
*Dun-dun-duuuuuuun*
This isn't really related to the movie, but personally, I don't get why some people on this forum hate the new Fozzie puppet. I wasn't too big on the cone-headed Fozzie from the late 2000's myself.
Seeing the sketches themselves are usually far more entertaining than reading a botched description of them. I would imagine these won't be any different, although I haven't seen or heard of most of the TV shows Sesame is spoofing this year (then again, I've never watched an episode of Mad Men...
Looks as though Sesame's tribute to Jerry Nelson will constitute an entire street story, seeing as one of the season 44 episodes is titled "Count Tribute." :batty:
Hate to be the old grouch here, but there's something rather unsettling about the inclusion of Disney Channel 'stars' in a Muppet Movie ...and I think I'll just stop right there before I start trashing on an upcoming film, and comparing it negatively to the Muppet Movies of yore.
On the other...
