Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
He's "invented":
A piano (unknown name)
A wake-up machine, which uses an alarm clock with a spool attached to a lever, attached to a feather, which tickes his nose and wakes him up.
A rain-making machine, but he kept punching it (but it wasn't going to work anyway.)
And "discovered"...
Oops. I got the two confused. I don't think I remember the Toothpaste Fairy.
The Fairy Balloon Person is played by Richard Kind, but I haven't seen the show yet.
I do remember a bunch of these characters:
Granny Grouch--from show #131: looks like Oscar in a pillbox hat, yellow dress, glasses, and lavendar gloves (actually the body of the lavendar live-hand AM is used for her body). Played by Jerry Nelson.
Cousin Abigail Snuffleupagus--from #1800...
Elmo's World: The Farm Animals--These would be Old McDonald's animals, including a cow (the Cathlene puppet), goat (with grouch eyes), rooster, horse (brown Fred puppet), chickens, and various fruits and vegetables.
The Adventures of Trash Gordon: The Piles of Trash--the same kind of puppets...
Wow. From the sounds of it, this episode's pretty good. I mean, it's got Buster, the Squirrelles, Chris, the Count, and the King of Eight! SSetta'll probably be really happy about this! :)
I saw the episode, and I can see where some food can be added to the list:
The Pineapple--probably shouldn't be added; they could've added any fruit to the script, so he's not very important enough to add to the list. Nice appearance by Peter Linz, though: "Wanna go to a movie?!"
Mr...
I don't think it's dated at all, but since they used it for the DVD I saw no reason that they shouldn't put it on the show. I prefer the original, but the new one is worth seeing. I mean, Cookie has dreadlocks! :D
Well, it's the same puppet eyes and all, for most of the Muppet foods (though some may have changeable eyes), but the puppeteers change. It's the same way for Honkers, cows, horses, pigs, martians, etc.
Is the broccoli from the PSA referred to as Mr. Broccoli? (Vegetables with names are an...
It makes sense, but the same food appear in various clips. For example the broccoli from EW is also in the "Healthy Food" song, and numerous other places.
The Medieval Townsfolk--the three main ones were AMs: a fat blue knight with orange hair, Fozzie-esque nose, and greenish eyelids; a lavendar AM woman with brown hair, a white scarf draped around her head, small pink nose, blue eyelids, and red/pink dress; and a green woman with blondish-brown...
One one channel (where the shows are one week late) it's at 8:00 AM, and on another channel it's at 9:00 AM. I tape the shows on a timer, then copy each show, hoping to trade with someone. I've already got the last two seasons on tape.
