Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I know Steve Whitmire voices Jake. But doesn't Jake sound almost like Jim Henson though? With that deep fatherly voice of his? I bet Jim would've been proud of that series while watching it from Heaven.
I got the entire Jim Henson Hour series on tape and I'm willing to trade for anyone who wants them. I like trading for anything that's rare on video. Or anything else that's rare.
I remember in some old SS episodes. Bert was on the street taking care of his baby nephew Brad. Brad was a smaller version of Bert only he had red hair and spoke in goo goo noises. Probably Richard Hunt did Brad because he sounded a lot like Beaker.
Happy Birthday to you Jerry. :)
I loved everything you done from the Count, to Floyd, to Robin, to Gobo, and to every Muppet you've ever performed and every cartoon character you've ever voiced. :)
I hope you have a great birthday party and I hope Lew Zeland brings the paper towels! :)
P.S. Maxine the Indian Elephant and Dave the Human appeared on the same show and they did a song together.
Ringo the Elephant and Eugene the Hunting Dog were in another episode.
Also there was an episode where Sam the Eagle guest starred and he became shocked and appalled when he saw a...
Hi again the Count. :)
To answer your first question, I am a guy.
And as for animal descriptions. Please give me a few days to look through all my videos and I'll e-mail you a list of all the guests and their descriptions. But I can answer some of the questions you posted right now...
I remember that cool skit Mokeystar. It was Little Crissy singing to this black haired lavender girl in a blue turtleneck. And I believe the song went like this.
I go up. You go down.
I go in a straight line, You go round and round.
I go over and under. You go through.
Tell me why do...
Hey there, The Count. :)
Sure, I can answer your Animal Show questions. If you'll give me some time, I'll just get my tapes and fast foward through them and I can give you the info on all the animal guests and what their names were. What questions do you have for me right now?
My favorite opposite skit was Mahna Mahna dancing around a black screen singing a jazzy song about opposites. First he went up and down some stairs and then up in a rocket and down in a parachute. Then he played a game of near and far. And demonstrated loud and soft with a marching band...
P.S. Eve was a huge cockroach that wears a chef's hat an apron and I always thought he was voiced by Steve Whitmire.
Also the roach made his first appearance on the Jim Henson Hour where he had a huge chef fight with the Swedish Chef. And he also made an appearance on Muppet Treasure Island.
I think Andrew the Reindeer had some kind of Scandanavian accent and he sang a song called, Reindeer on the Beach.
The Anteater that was a guest was actually an aardvark and her name was Arlene.
Rhonda looked a lot like one of the rats from the Muppet Show, and she had a blonde wig...
I'm guessing that Grover is an adult or a teen since in a few skits, he was a taxi driver. And I don't think you can give a kid a driver's licsence.
Grover also seems like a senior monster who tries to give the younger monsters lectures. Kind of like a big brother.
How about this idea for a Muppet Movie? The Muppets take a trip to Tokyo, Japan and get into a bunch of wild adventures. Miss. Piggy enrolls Kermit and herself into a Japanese romantic play. Fozzie visits a Japanese comedy club where Waldorf and Statler happen to be there also. Animal chases...
I remember when The Great Muppet Caper aired on a syndicated channel, it showed Janice singing that infamous line and the curse word got volumed down! That made me realize she really did say that word!
So far, I've learned that Big Bird is 6 years old, Snuffy is 4 and a half, and Zoe and Elmo are 3. But does anyone know how old Telly or Grover is? I'm wondering if Grover is either an adult or a kid, since he acts like a kid but has many jobs like an adult.
I always loved the classic, but sadly never seen again, 1-2-3-4-5 cartoon. It was totally psychedelic and it had numbers 1 thru 5 popping up in all kinds of artistic forms while background singers were singing beautifully. :)
Does anyone have this classic cartoon on tape? If so, I'd like to...
