Most of us are familiar with the classic "People in your Neighborhood" song skits. But most of those are from 30 years ago. How about some new songs? Like:
"A systems analyst is a person in your neighborhood"
"A real-estate developer is a person in your neighborhood"
"An market...
There was this one scary, if absurd, sketch about the word Danger.
I believe the two characters here were Bob and some girl Muppet (Betty Lou?). The setting is sort of outdoorsy, but still behind a Muppet "wall" (or was is a mound of grass serving that purpose), with a high-rise building in...
Does anyone remember this Harvey Kneeslapper sketch that had no apparent gag at all?
HK stops a passer-by Anything Muppet and introduces him to a special phrase: "AWAY FROM". HK shows him these flashing words (not sure if it was a sign or superimposed text). HK explained to the AM how "Away...
When Ernie initially asked Cookie Monster if he wanted the apple he was handling, he answered "Well, it would be nice"
One reason for CM not taking the apple:
"I don't want to spoil my dinner."
(I must say I wondered what kind of dinner CM had -- 3 cookie courses? -- until that PSA of...
I recall a really old sketch like the one you're describing. However I thought it was Gordon "playing" the banana, since this sketch may actually pre-date Luis on the show. I thought the other character was Ernie (coulda been Kermit).
There were a number of other musical instruments present...
I think the actual quote was more like:
Bob: (frogs live in) Swamps, lakes, rivers, mudholes...
Kermit: MUDHOLES? That's TERRIBLE. How could you live in a mudhole? If you lived in a mudhole your floor would get filthy!
And I believe the part about apartment houses in the city included...
Why did he shut down the car engine in the first place? Most railroad crossings only have a wait time of 3 minutes or so (what's equally puzzling is why so many people try to precariously "race" the train to the grade crossing). Some regular traffic signals can be even longer, and who shuts...
My favorites have been oscar and Cookie Monster.
Oscar was in one either season 1 or 2, when Mr. Hooper convinces Oscar to mind the store by telling him there are 4 large cans of garbage present. When Hooper returns, Oscar has taken the trash out of the cans and "decorated" the store with...
Bert also came out ahead in the skit where he shows Ernie his treasured bottle cap collection. The Figgy Fizz cap was missing, and Ernie just happened to have found it. Bert is ecstatic over having his collection completed, while Ernie is sarcastically mulling over how "exciting" the day was...
It was to subtly teach kids that both death and birth are parts of the lifecycle. Earlier in the same episode, they showed a film of a kid visiting his mother in the hospital after she'd just had a baby.
Another observation: Just before that somber scene with Big Bird and the adults, they...
Two nature films from the early years:
1) It begins with several filmed scenes of nature as a woman with a Judy Collins-like voice sings a song that begins with "Look around, look around." At the beginning there are a few lines to the song added such as "...time goes by". There was a...
It appears that the first post I ever made on this forum, a little over a year ago, was about that very same animation!

I seem to recall that the can was of Franco-American Spaghetti (I also ate a lot of that brand of canned pasta back in the day), but ISTR the word "Franco" was blanked out, so all it read was merely "American Spaghetti".
The look on Luis' face was priceless as he casually picked up the can...
On the Sesame Street 2 album, you have:
Herbert Birdsfoot - High part
Ernie - Middle
Bert - Low part
One tiny bit of trivia that I observed on my own about the vinyl version. In the high part, HB doesn't repeat anything. In the middle part, Ernie repeats once, as in "I know, I know"...

What's interesting is that we both remembered the exact same cutscene, almost word for word. One of those scenes that everyone seems to remember, hmm?
The adults finally met Snuffy in the playground area. Big Bird was outside the door, debating to go in there -- think "ooh, I can't look". Finally, BB decides to enter, but before doing so he says to the camera something like "But I feel like I just lost my best friend."
Note that as part...
A bunch of Anything Muppets (plus a monster or two?) were in some outdoors setting and were trying to determine a criteria with which to choose up teams.
We hear some random chatter, one voice suggests the folks with the longer hair go on one team. Finally, one person pipes up (Jim Henson?)...
I remember that song/skit! There was one break point in the song where Bert was sitting calmly and reading in the apartment, when Herry monster sneaks up behind him and suddenly shouted "reh-heh-heh-heheheheh". Bert, not the slightest bit scared, says in a calm but ticked voice, "Would you...
Most of the Larry and Phyllis sketches had a narrator introduce each skit, describing what their dilemna was to the sound of soap-opera organ music. I don't recall any regular ambient background music, unlike the Buddy & Jim/Wally & Ralph sketches.
One such Larry and Phyllis routine involved...
