Regarding the sketch with 2 Grovers, one at either end of the "long ladder"
I wonder if Frank Oz even did the first Grover. Notice that at the beginning of the ladder, not only is Grover silent, but he's staring ahead almost trance-like. So perhaps it was a different Muppeteer altogether...
How about:
where he tries to sell Ernie an 8, but Ernie spent it all on 9's. The line "I'll throw in a 2 and a 4. and two 3s" confused me, with the numbers juxtaposed like that, but I liked the skit anyway :)
Lefty is assigned to bring "some, more, and most" carrots. Cute rabbit...
Does anyone remember these two slightly scary animations from the mid-1970s?
1. I only remember the ending of this one. A ship out at sea was sinking for some reason. The captain yelled out "Land! Ho!", but then casually says "Oh, never mind." The ship then smoothly disappears below the...
I checked out the site. In a word: amazing. And no pixellation glitches to speak of!
In the "Beginning, Middle, and End" skit (king with three beautiful daughters, lived happily ever after), there's a line missing.
End (included): "And they lived happily ever after. Hmph."
Middle...
You are correct. They were actually piling up word blocks reading LOVE. I'm not sure if each layer was one long word LOVE, or if they were 4 individual blocks.
And although there were hippie Muppets present, the "lead" singer was a "normal" anything-Muppet -- sort of like Farley. He did the...
long reply
Six years ago I posted this on another message board. Here it is again with a few edits. As usual, not all spoken phrases or details are exact.

In the wake of some particularly noisy ball playing around his can, Oscar makes like he's a doctor. He wears a...
Ernie cleaning up the apartment
Just to clarify the different skits about Ernie and cleaning up their pad.
-- Beginning with a mess, B tells E to put his toys away. E decides he will only put certain toys away, such as the red ones, etc., and at the end only puts away the toy fire engine...
There was also the skit in which Grover was struggling with an incredibly heavy, brick-like block marked HELP. When Grover asked Herbert Birdsfoot for help, Herb returned with an identical block and placed it atop the one Grover was carrying. "Two helps? Help, help..." Herb then did it again...
I have a Sesame Street record from 1970 on CD. Well, sort of. The record is titled "Sesame Street Rubber Duckie and other favorites", and only has two songs from the show: the theme (long version), and the title track. Not sure about the other songs, but I think at least one was written by...
Have any of these sketches starring Ernie and/or Bert appeared on YouTube?
-- Pumpkin seed candy
E divides up the candy, presumably in his favor.
-- Get the newspaper
B asks E to buy a newspaper at Hooper's store. He brings a flashlight in case it gets dark (it's morning), an umbrella (no...
How often have you seen The Count and Oscar together? I can only think of two times, and the second one I'm not so sure of.
The first occasion was when Oscar was trying one of many tactics to get people to "leave him alone" or otherwise stay away from his can. On this episode Oscar claimed...
You know the 4-note lead-in that's played at the start of the first (but not the second) time the musical phrase is played by the "one-man band"? It goes "da-da da DA".
Those same notes were later reused in one of those short "commercial" letter animations. Typically these went...
Harvey Kneeslapper made a cameo in one of Kermit's News Flash segments.
In this one, Kermit was interviewing prospective "merry men" for Robin Hood. However, none of them appeared to be "merry"; one was a little girl who was sad and sobbing, and one was a guy who was broiling mad. Then...
Could have been. Maria I am certain of; her male co-vocalist I'm not. They did a good duet, with some lines done by her and some by him, and some by both, such as the "and the world belongs to you and me" finish. Even if Oscar didn't think it was such a good number.
You know that video about milking cows from the very first episode of Sesame Street, which is on the DVD?
There's a scene in there where they show scenes from a large-scale dairy operation. What they have there is a device called a "rotolactor", where the cows are milked on this large...
* Believe In Yourself -- I recall a street scene from 1976 or so in which two adults (probably Maria and Luis) sing this song to Oscar. What happens is, best as I can remember, Oscar is mulling over what to become when he grows up. "Pickle taster" was one such occupational choice. The adults...
You know you watched too much classic Sesame Street when...
...your kindergarten teacher shows you a drawing of an elephant and points out its trunk; you raise your hand and explain that it's also called a "snuffle".
...you name your first tropical fish "Grover"
...in kindergarten...
On the Sesame Street II album, at the very end Oscar says "Turn the record back over, and start again."
Can't very well turn a CD over, though there are 2-sided DVDs.
If the master tapes for the albums are indeed destroyed or otherwise unusable, the best way to get a near-CD quality copy...
I distinctly remember a time in the mid-70s when Grover told Big Bird that Snuffy was imaginary. (Grover was on the street at the time). He said something like "Oh no Big Bird that is all just your imagination."
A few episodes later, the main thread of the episode was that Grover had the...
