I distinctly remember a time in the mid-70s when Grover told Big Bird that Snuffy was imaginary. (Grover was on the street at the time). He said something like "Oh no Big Bird that is all just your imagination."

A few episodes later, the main thread of the episode was that Grover had the hiccoughs. Big Bird decided to cure Grover by scaring him, and did so by showing him Mr. Snuffleuppagas. When the two appeared face-to-face, Grover yelled "I AM surprised!" and fainted. The hiccup cure worked! I think that when Grover came to, though, he either forgot or didn't believe what he saw.

And one time, Ernie and Bert were in their apartment talking about Big Bird's imagination. Bert looked out his window and saw Snuffy walking by. He got excited and tried to tell Ernie about it. But Ernie wouldn't come to the window telling Bert that it was just his imagination.
Now THAT'S interesting!

I read about this skit at the Yesterdayland message board a long time ago. I read there that at first Ernie looked out the window and saw Mr. Snuffleupagus and told Bert, but Bert looked out the window and he was gone, and told Ernie that he was probably imagining things, and told him what an imagination is, and then Bert looked out the window and saw Snuffy and told Ernie, who then thought that Bert was imagining things. Bert was then unsure of himself as to whether he saw Snuffy ("But I did see him... I think").

Interesting that Gordon would be more understanding than Susan. You'd think Gordon would be a bit more frustrated.
I agree, especially considering the recent ep where Gordon didn't believe anybody about Herb the dinosaur. Seems like he's more skeptical now than he was years ago.
