What made you roll your eyes today thread?

The whole deal is that everyone who appears on Jerry or Maury gets six hundred bucks for their efforts. So there is no shortage of people lined up, make a fool of themselves on tv, maybe pretend to fight, nice deal. And there's no shortage of people who still want to watch this crap. It is...

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

Next to Jerry Springer, Honey Boo Boo was the poorest of bottom-feeder tv. And how empty can people's lives be if they thought Mama June was a role model? Way back when I finally got wise to how little reality there is in reality tv. There was to be an offshoot series of these redneck kids...

Ask the fuzzy old coot something while he's still awake

Sometimes watching tv, there would be a commercial for some used car dealer, and we thought it was the funniest thing ever. And listening to comedy albums, that was great. Robin Williams had a brand new album out ("A Night at the Met",1986), and even had this bit about getting stoned, so say no...

Ask the fuzzy old coot something while he's still awake

Once we made hash brownies and called Duncan Hines customer service number. Asked the lady what she recommended: Acapulco Gold or homegrown. The silence on the other end of the phone was priceless. As far as munchies went, we never really ate sugary stuff. No Oreos or Twinkies or that stuff. But...

    The "You know what?" thread

Fye started out as the opposite of Sam Goody's. Goody's had lower prices, so their profit margin was smaller, but they survived through sheer volume. Fye started out with higher prices, but became more competitive when they became less strict with their return policies. You started seeing used...

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

Another banner day in therapy. Walking further with my cane, not wobbly at all. Took the cane down three flights of stairs, walked around the building, back up the flights, felt like a champ! And absolutely beautiful out. 75 sunny degrees, nice breeze, everything finally starting to bloom. Can't...

The New Am I The Only One Thread

Lewis and Clark, Daniel Boone, the Continental Army, they never went glamping. That was one of the cool things about Boy Scouts. By the time you're ten, you get to experience taking a backpack with everything you need for an overnight stay, hiking a mile to your campsite, pitching your tent (or...

The New Am I The Only One Thread

Am I the only one who thinks "glamping" is pointless? Camping out in your backyard with every luxury and convenience at your disposal? The whole idea of camping is (or at least used to be) roughing it a little. Pitching your own tent, building your own campfire, (extreme cases, if you're into...

    The "You know what?" thread

Up here, Goody's meant Sam Goody's, which sold records, tapes, CD's until they closed in the 90's. Great selection, cheap prices, they had tv and radio ads, "Goody's Got It!" But I hated clothes shopping as much as you did, especially in grade school. In the 70's, most everything was polyester...

    What made you angry today?

It cheapens the whole meaning of triggered. Yes, you fought two wars in Iraq, saw death all around you, you get triggered. Bill Cosby drugged and raped you, you get triggered. You do NOT get triggered because you don't like what the cafeteria is serving today. Tough crap. Case dismissed. Next!

    Questions about anything

Also worth checking out, there's a series of 5 minute cartoons called "Jot". Starring a little white dot, these quote scriptures and get the message across real well. But they are outrageously psychedelic. Kinda like a Christian version of early Sesame cartoons. YouTube has a few, drop in sometime.

    Questions about anything

There was a show back in the early 70's called Christopher Close-Up that had a puppet segment that featured a family of koala bears. There was a mommy, daddy, sister, and the main character, a rambunctious boy koala named Brisbane. Brisbane faced moral dilemmas in these 15 minute segments. The...

    Happy Birthday Katzi428 (Kathy)

Birthday time is here again. Ain't been round since you know when. Happy birthday to another soul who remembers YesterdayLand, when we were young and hip, and millennials were still drooling in their play pens. And I wouldn't dare call you old. I was 49 just eight days ago, so you're forever...

Yes, it is semisweet dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has healthy antioxidants in it, which is beneficial to people...my age and older. I hate to break this to you folks, but in a few decades, a lot of your bodies might not be able to tolerate the frosty cereals with the cartoon mascot on the box...
