The Jim Henson Company Puppets to perform at the 2011 Grammys

I don't agree and I think this is part of the problem. The Muppets have continually pushed aside their best work, assuming it was "too old" for today's audiences. It's not that today's audiences don't like it or have forgotten it. They barely get a chance to see it! Instead the Muppets try to be...

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Well I admit I actually agree with that decision, lol. It's one thing to have TV shows and commercials separate. To combine them was misleading and manipulative, even for a commercial!

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

I'm not completely against kids seeing commercials. It's a parent's job to make sure their kids have half a brain when watching them. And it is important for kids to learn not to trust everything they see. Taking away that lesson will not do them any good. Of course, I am against the lousy...

Seven Years Later: Disney buys Muppets and Bear

That's right and I'm really grateful to Disney for doing that. Like I said earlier, it is both Disney and Henson who could have been doing more to advertise the Muppets Jim created and not just keep reinventing them in projects that don't work.

Floyd & John Denver sing "Gone Fishing"

That was beautiful, thanks for sharing! I have the Rocky Mountain Holiday VHS (and album!), but I had no idea they'd also performed the duet at the Grammys. Groovy! :sing:

Seven Years Later: Disney buys Muppets and Bear

Not saying Pepe shouldn't be in the movie, but it's not like the Muppets were never edgy before he entered the picture. ;)

Muppet Show Season 4 coming in 2013

Still it might make sense to wait; look what happened with the Fraggle DVDs. Nobody was expecting that! You never know how these things are going to play out.

Seven Years Later: Disney buys Muppets and Bear

I think that's a good way of presenting the divide between the Jim-era Muppets and the post-Jim era Muppets. It's two radically different directions and one of them has simply not been successful.

It is amazing how long it has taken for that to sink in (if it has at all)!

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

You're not the only one who feels that way. I feel like at this point the show is being protected mainly because no one wants to be the one who cancels Sesame Street. You may have a point, and anyway Television is suffering in general, the future is on the Web.

The Jim Henson Company Puppets to perform at the 2011 Grammys

I think it remains to be seen. ;) Again, no offence. :) It's not that I don't want them to move forward. It's just that following the latest fads and gaining some publicity does not automatically equal moving forward.

Seven Years Later: Disney buys Muppets and Bear

Right that is true, some of the problem is copyright (which is supposedly to help the artist, ha). So basically a mediocre film that barely made a dent in the public's consciousness gets more publicity than the first Muppet movie. Good job copyright! And yet time and again Henson and Disney...

    Wild Thornberries DVD (interesting development)

I did watch The Wild Thornberries, but I must have been too old for it because the only characters I liked were the father and the sister, lol. The main character usually just annoyed me. ::shrugs::

The Jim Henson Company Puppets to perform at the 2011 Grammys

Well let me be clear I am not talking about censorship. But just because some people enjoyed something doesn't make it edgy or particularly creative, which I assume is what the Henson Alternative is going for. The Muppets were able to be edgy in the past without restoring to this stuff. No...

Seven Years Later: Disney buys Muppets and Bear

Which doesn't have to be the end of the world for the Muppets, if it happens. All successful franchises eventually meet their end, it's inevitable. They stay alive in audience's minds because the work they left behind is still widely available. Both Henson and Disney should have concentrated...

Agreed. But at the same time, the world is only as we make it and only what we're willing to fight for. Nothing will change if we just turn if off and ignore it. Exactly, all we do is go from one extreme to the other.
