Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Oh yeah I mean I could definitely identify with that, wanting to lose yourself in fantasies (books, TV and movies in our case, hehe). I was always really shy and could totally identify with Barclay's pain and how everyone else on the ship had no idea what it was like.
I LOVE that it was Barclay...
Well I have to say again the constant '80s references really didn't even fit since The Muppet Show was primarily a '70s show. It's just that the '80s are big in pop culture right now.
I'm a huge fan of Donatello and Nightcrawler too! Barcley was my favorite on TNG, but Laforge is great too (and they were friends on the show). I remember as a kid watching Levar Burton in the morning on Reading Rainbow and then on Saturday nights watching him as Geordi on Star Trek. Probably my...
Yeah you don't need to skip it; it's very much anti-Nazi. :) The scene seems weird because Mel Brooks' humor is often very hardcore and blunt and there's not too many other moments like it in the movie. What I was trying to say before (and maybe I didn't do it right) was that the scene gives the...
I'm right, trust me. Have you seen The Producers? Mel Brooks often said his way of defeating his enemies like Hitler was to make fun of them. That's what he was doing in The Muppet Movie as well.
Um, no. You misunderstood me. Mel Brooks often made fun of Nazis because he was very much against them. (i.e. his movie The Producers). It was something he was known for. The Muppet Movie is not promoting anti-semitism. If anything, it was showing how horrible it is. I mean the character is...
Well actually people don't often realize just how sinister his character is there. He's playing a German scientist who makes a couple of really offensive anti-Semitic comments. He's actually way more disturbing than any other Muppet bad guy in history! It certainly does give the movie a...
I couldn't agree more, lol. I mean come on, "We Built this City" represents a once deep, thoughtful band (Jefferson Airplane) selling out in the '80s. Not to mention the Electric Mayhem band are clearly a product of the '60s and '70s and "Can You Picture That" fits their image so much better. :D
That's funny because I was always slightly afraid of it as a kid because it was so grown up and somber at times. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it and I would definitely recommend it to kids, but it wasn't your typical kiddie special to me at all.
Yeah this is the hardest poll so far!
I picked The Christmas Toy because I grew up with it and I love how it wasn't afraid to be a little dark and somber at times.
But Emmett Otter is also a classic with an incredible Paul Williams soundtrack. :)
The Great Santa Claus Switch is so cute and...
