Agreed, but remakes just rarely manage to capture the spirit for me. At that point it's a totally different franchise now surviving, not the original. The original is still being forgotten.
Plus Linda was a grown up who was able to go to the writers and really insist she be written with a personality. If you don't stand up for yourself, no one else will. But obviously a little girl isn't necessarily in a position to do that.
And if PBS was more conservative leaning it would be the Democrats threatening to pull the plug. There is no loyalty here on either side. It's party interests and frankly, it's dirty money. It's tragic that PBS even needs gov't support.

Regarding the infamous Big Bird ad, I liked the "no matter where they nest" part, it's creepy like those old '80s PSAs, lol.
But yeah it does come off more like a spoof than a real commercial. It's surprising frankly that anyone approved it.

People just don't like the stigma of being called "disabled." It sounds negative. And I guess they would argue that if the world was more accommodating it wouldn't have to be a disability.
