I'm blessed/cursed with the ability to memorize movies fairly quickly so I run the risk of getting sick of them all the time. I literally have to make the effort to space out my viewings sometimes so it feels new, lol.
So many memories...watching Dallas with my Mom back in the '80s. And then I Dream of Jeanie nearly every night on Nick at Nite back in the '90s. :halo:
Not entirely comfortable with the comparisons to Jim's death. This is a situation of someone losing a job over a potential scandal. It's not at all the same as someone's tragic passing.
He was talking about science education in general. That we have problems in this country with our educational system and turning kids away from science won't help matters.
Well the irreligious are still very much a fringe group and in many ways under represented. In some states an atheist can't run for office and can't be in the Boy Scouts, for instance. And that's not right, in my opinion.
As far as things like nativity scenes, my area has never had this...
I am also glad they did the nativity story. People can be far too anal-retentive about avoiding religious symbolism in holidays. Though I think Christmas Eve on Sesame Street did it even better, basically teaching Big Bird about the concept of faith in a more subtle way.
Is there still a height requirement for the balloons? I think I saw a documentary on the parade that said the Bart balloon was one of the ones judged too big after the accident years ago.
I get the impression Piggy was very popular in the '70s because she was this brash, independent female character during Women's Lib. Even her being Second in Command of the Swinetrek was huge!
A little late to the party but I have to say, I actually had a huge crush on Nicky when I was little, lol. Yes I knew he was the bad guy, but I liked the way he truly had a soft spot for Miss Piggy. Some rather deep issues for a 4 year old to comprehend, lol.
