Well again, you assume it's easy as pie to recreate a good sketch. If it was that easy, those sketches wouldn't be worth much at all. There's nothing wrong with the original sketches and I refuse to let planned obsolesent technology tell me otherwise.

True, I was surprised that they added a new villain when they basically already had one built in. I guess that's a result of padding, as DrTooth said.
Btw, I did see the beginning of the film, so I wasn't lying or anything when I said I haven't seen the film, lol. Just to clarify that. ;)
That was brilliant and it's something you almost never see in children's entertainment. A moral issue that's left up in the air with no clear resolution.
In theory that was definitely a clever idea, attacking big business and advertising. The movie had good ideas, I just couldn't identify...
Oh I'm not saying it wasn't like that in the new movie. I'm just saying that it annoys me when the creators of these newer films put down the originals and act like they had to "fix" things.
The original didn't need to spell the internal conflict out, or put the blame on a different character...
That's funny because I never considered the original Once-ler a monster. In fact I was moved by his original characterization because you could tell he truly loved the Trufula trees despite his greed.

Oh me too definitely, I enjoyed that part. The movie had a lot of great ideas but desperately needed an editor to focus on one of them and follow through with that one idea.
I think if they wanted to have those themes in an original story I wouldn't have minded. But the depiction of the Who's was just plain insulting to Dr. Seuss' original story. Hollywood needs to get its own ideas and not deface other people's, lol.
The Brady Bunch movies aren't remakes. They are closer to satirical parodies.
The Adams Family movies are closer to remakes and one of the few franchises to do it well. As other fans have said, they took a good idea and made it ten times richer. :)
