Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
When the 2011 film came out, I remarked how we're used to the Muppets breaking the fourth wall and having somewhat of a fantastical nature...but the 2011 film just ran wild with abusing the fourth wall and creating this unrealistic fantasy world with Gary and Mary. For me the magic of the...
Disney didn't send the film to a lot of theaters? What, is MMW an indie art house film? lol
Haha @Dr Tooth...MAYBE WE NEED Dominick Badguy to bribe people to see MMW:)
You're absolutely right. Both films should be celebrated. I mean the opening scene of Walter captivated by tv, and then he gets to the Muppet show on vhs tape...I want to cry just thinking about it. Gives me goosebumps. The whole thing of Walter going to the real Jim Henson Company Studios, but...
From what I hear, several tv shows! Though Disney refuses to ever release them or tv specials on the home market, save for the first few seasons of the original Muppet Show
It's obvious that the Muppets are a labor of love. Celebrities, Disney heads, and creative Hollywood people love the Muppets even if the Walmartian Americans are not into the Muppets. I think the people in charge will continue to make and push Muppet productions because they're fans.
Spot on...
I admit the film does have a very dark, sombre tone. But I just really loved it. There was times that the 2011 film(I felt) bordered on a Disney family channel movie of the week, complete with twinkly effects and an overlit style of cinematography. That scene when you see Beauregard sticking his...
I HATED most the music from the first one. I still cant get over how much focus there was on the cringe worthy sappy Segal and Adams characters, and I love those guys in other films.
I couldn't get "We're Making A Sequel" out of my head. They worked really hard to echo the original film's vibe...
Just makes me sad that from all of you, my friends who saw it and myself...everyone is reporting a very low theater attendance regardless of time or day seen.
I mean I caught the very strange indie film "The Grand Budapest Hotel" by Wes Anderson yesterday at noon, a film that would maybe...
I agree completely, sadly. Still tho, Constantine mistaking the Muppet Show for Sesame and the brief clip of Sesame Kermit was a nice touch.
I love the randomness of the Hugga Wugga alien...this movie was total hardcore fan service all the way. And let's be honest...if general casual Muppet...
Unlike 2011 TM, I actually want to see this one multiple times. I'm really hoping you guys are right, and positive word of mouth gives it a strong second week. 16 million? Thats probably less than the amount spent on advertising.
I'm siding with the theory of psychological reasons why...
My good friend saw it last night(a saturday night) at one of the main cineplexes, and said it was tumbleweeds and crickets.
I know it sounds mean, but The Muppets are too good for modern society. The Muppets stand for everything the world should be, but sadly too many people don't want...
I KNOW THE FEELING! Oh man, just seeing that there was a couple rows of families with kids at a 2:45 PM opening day showing of a new Muppet film made me happy. I think I was the only one laughing throughout the whole film, but it was great hearing little kid's voices now and then exclaiming joy...
Disney has clearly spent an insane amount of money promoting this film. So if the box office returns show a poor outing by society, then it's not for a lack of advertising.
People on muppet forums keep saying "the Palisades days", but to me that's living in the past. Ken and company bent over...
That's why I kept laughing so hard when Constantine mispronounced Fozzie and Gonzo's name. As to me it's a spoof of how so many people in society screw up their names. As well as Constantine saying he thought Muppet Show was "a show about sharing and numbers". The writers definitely are aware of...
Speaking of which...MTI was greatly represented in MMW...who saw that coming? Sadly no Clueless Morgan. But still...wow.
Wait, the Sesame St stoop was in MFS??? I recall Uncle Matt was suppose to be in MFS.
Disney used Jim Henson Studios as a big part of the last film, so yes a Fraggle cameo...
Also Wreck it Ralph was a MASSIVE wasted potential, not even coming close to the nightmarish legal wrangle Roger Rabbit was in terms of cameos.
Wreck It Ralph had...Q bert, Ryu from Street Fighter, some third party app game characters, a character from an obscure 80's Sega arcade game and a...
If Stoller and Bobbin insisted on one little cameo(as its been revealed, Stoller wanted a cameo of the Sesame Street martians), then I doubt Disney would have much of a problem. If it was Elmo and Abby popping up out of nowhere, yeah that wouldn't happen. As it is, I'm happy with the various...
Could of sworn I saw Patton Oswalt at the end in the gulag, though probably wishful thinking. I recognized the co-star of Django, so I got the Christopher Waltz Waltz gag. Also the Usher gag. I thought the Gaga cameo was perfect. Though how come they don't get A-list big names anymore, like Tom...
Wait is this true? I haven't seen a full episode of Sesame since the 90's, I have to rely on the clips Sesame Workshop puts on. Wow, the news keeps getting better and better!
