Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

My disappointment isn't so much in the box office floppage...but that I think a lot of people would like the film if they gave it a chance. I mean when you got the majority of cynics on here who aren't shy to sharply criticize Muppet projects, calling it a near perfect masterpiece... At this...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

Just hard for me to believe that a staunch, dyed in the wool "Henson era only" Muppet fan literally can't find something modern to like. There's endless hours of new online Muppet shorts, appearances, commercials, etc. I still watch the 2008 Muppets.com shorts and just love the writing on those...

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

I wrote a thread in 1998 on the old MC forums regarding "who would be considered bad guys in Muppet canon". People argued their are no Muppet bad guys. But take, Sesame Street. Oscar is kind of supposed to be an antagonist. I'm just trying to think who, in a third film would be funny to see as...

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

Been saying this for years. I say bring back Zondra from the Jim Henson Hour:) If they do a tv show, they definitely will need some strong female characters(that Spamella Hamderson was dreadful)

    60 Years of Muppets...

BRILLIANT! Just like the 1985 "30 year" tv special. Really hope the people at Disney's ABC or Muppet fan loving NBC think of this. Jimmy Fallon would be perfect to be involved.

    1. Pinkflower: Well...I want to see quality. In the 2000's we did have The Muppets visible in a number of things, but many people felt the quality just felt lacking. 2. You know, a street blocking huge media event wedding in Hollywood between Kermit and Piggy would be a really smart publicity...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

Production costs/investment/marketing total versus final box office/home/streaming/tv agreement takes always seems to be the bottom line...but I've seen so many examples where a film tanked/was heavily maligned and studios STILL did sequels. Muppet films are considerably cheaper to make...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

I agree. I certainly am a huge fan of the mid to late 80's Muppet and Jim Henson related projects. Everyone has a favorite time period, but for people to flat out not wish well upon new movies/projects/tv shows because it's not the 1980s or 1970s I find to be anathema to being a fan. If the...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

Definitely not a surprise to read what's in the article you posted, besides the strong investment: The Muppets truly seem to be a pet project/labor of love for people at Disney. It took years of nagging for Disney to even do anything with the franchise, but when Segal convinced Disney to revive...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

The 2000's were not a good time for the Jim Henson, Oz and Hunt voiced characters I felt. Statler sounded off (even Waldorf, as you said kept switching hands), Scooter just was completely off. But I rewatch the classic material, and for me modern Piggy, Fozzie and Animal seem so spot on that I...

Muppet Fans Breakthrough into Muppet Productions

Just wanted to say how utterly proud I am. I've come to realize that a lot of the 90's and 2000's Muppet fans are now themselves working in official capacity for The Muppets proper, Sesame Workshop, the Jim Henson Company/Creatureshop or in another puppet related capacity. From the people who...

    60 Years of Muppets...

60 years. 40 years removed from a century. Next year marks the incredible sixty year anniversary of The Muppets and Jim and Jane Henson's vision. This is so incredible to me. Ten years ago the Muppets were, despite a great merchandise presence, languishing in relative obscurity and development...

    Muppets Most Wanted Merchandise Thread

I just went to Walgreens across the street from me, and low and behold...Muppet plushes! Now...ok, granted these aren't the best. They look like circa 2002 European Mcdonalds Muppet plushes. But for $4? Sure why not. I still maintain the 2012 Toys R Us Muppet plushes are the best Muppet...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

The hipster hype machine told people to like the 2011 Muppet film, so they did. But it's not hip to like the new Muppet film. That's really what it's come down to. People do as they are told Heh...well honestly, if you look at the reality of box office gross and reviews for non...

I got banned from Tough Pigs for saying it...heavily chastised for saying it on here a decade ago...but I'm sorry, I'm going to say it...you CANNOT be a true Muppet fan and live in the past/reject post JH projects. What...Ducktales, Buzz Command, Tailspin, etc doesnt have FULL sets out? And Gravity Falls, THE BEST kids cartoon on tv(sorry Adv Time/Regular Show) doesnt have one season out? Man what's up Disney? I don't think the lack of Segal or Adams has anything to do with lackluster support for MMW. I...

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

The city Gary and Mary are from seems so far removed from reality, that in the context of Muppet films(yes, even including the decidedly non canon MFS, MTI and MCC) it just felt wildly out of place. Where were they from, Pleasantville or Truman Show or Anytown USA?

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

I just been out partying a lot, but still trying to rope friends into seeing MMW. Truth be told the poor turnout just makes me realize The Muppets are meant for a more select few. I know, super hipster of me. But part of me likes how our furry pals aren't meant for the general mainstream plebs.
