Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I thought maybe this was an error with my disc and/or my player, but I guess not, and it is rather annoying. But I guess they feel we have to see their ads. If they could come out with a way to detect that we've already watched the ads once, that would be great. (Or better yet, a way to...
I believe the edit to episode 796 is because they couldn't get the rights to "Happy Birthday". I'm willing to cut Sesame Workshop some slack on this one because from what I've gathered, the owners of that song are quite greedy.
Great review, and I completely agree. The mid-to-late 70s was a...
I think the reason why the EW-free episodes didn't go over well is simply because kids expect to see it. They tune in every day expecting the show to follow a certain pattern. Any major deviation from the show's formula will be met with resistance. I say they keep gradually cutting it back...
Based on the listings on Muppet Wiki, I don't think we'll have to worry about music clearance problems this time. The only things that will probably change from the broadcast masters are the copyright screens.
- "Telephone Rock"
- Alphabet with Richard Pryor
- 1-2-3 ball film
- "Jack Be Nimble" News Flash
- Pinball Number Count
- Paul Simon performing "Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard"
- A clip with Henry "Fonz" Winkler
- "Sing After Me" with Madeline Kahn and Grover
- "The Subway" song
I know...
Well, this is a nostalgia set, so it makes sense to play up the "forgotten" characters rather than the ones you can still see on the present-day SS.
What I found interesting is that according to the article, the set has over 8 hours of material. So it's likely that we'll see more episodes...
I watched SS regularly until I was about 9, and my mom didn't really seem too phased by it. Maybe it's because she also enjoyed watching it to a certain degree, particularly the videos we bought such as Sing Yourself Silly and Monster Hits. And the only time I remember getting teased by my...
I've probably said this before, but while the formula of including one episode and a clip montage for each season is all well and good, I think that sticking to the season premieres results in too much repetition. I know they've probably already picked the episodes, and they're probably all...
I've been longing to see that sequence myself. The only ones I remember from my childhood are the Barkley sequence and the current animated one, and more recently I've seen the tenement building scroll thanks to various resources. The steering wheel sequence hasn't shown up online, but it will...
Anyone else having trouble downloading the episodes? Using Win-RAR, I keep getting errors saying "You need to start extraction from a previous volume" and "No files to extract". It seemed like I was doing all the right things, but maybe it's just my computer illiteracy.
I really think they should continue with the next five years. I know that there's a lot of good material from season 1-5 that has yet to be released, but the other seasons from the '70s and '80s are just as classic IMHO, and I think it's better to keep going ahead in order to give people an...
I actually kinda like '92 theme and opening, but at the same time, it just felt like the end of an era. And in retrospect, it really was all downhill from there.
Well, this is good timing for me. I just got the season 1 set and it's good to know I won't have to wait too long for the next season. Love the cover too!

Great news for TEC fans! iTunes is now selling 15 exclusive episodes, including six that weren't part of the Noggin package. You can download them for $1.99 each or $24.99 for the whole package. These are all uncut from the original masters.
There is also a video on YouTube of a season 3 closing with the apartment building credits. So I guess that must've been introduced later in season 3, or was only used on weeks where they didn't have the ending scenes running over the credits.
