What's the best way for cutting fur?

What's the best way to keep the fur out of the stitch? I just did one and tried keeping it back with masking tape, it's tough to try to free it afterwards....... Thanks again for all your suggestions and help!

What's the best way for cutting fur?

You can do a ladder stitch with fur? I thought that was mainly for fleece when sewing from the right side? Interesting!

What's the best way for cutting fur?

Okay, another good question then....... What method do you use for hand sewing? Which would be the best for puppet usage? Project Puppet mentions the "Whipstitch", but how does it hold up, up until now I've been using the old "In and Out".........(yeah, I caught that too, insert snicker here)...

    Quick thought for the day...

I see in various eBay auctions, and even some builders from here, talk about how they use various mouth plates, materials, thumb cups, linings, etc......and it just had me thinking: Do you think that screen used original Sesame Street or Muppet puppets also have this kind of care put into...

    Speechless...

You know , you're right. No one should be laughed at for building a puppet. I guess my shock came from seeing the finished product after all his boasting, and he knew that pic he originally put up of Elmo wasn't his. The Fozzie if I remember correctly went up originally for $200.00, and maybe...

    Speechless...

This is actually one of three, the first was a "pre-order" for an Elmo last November. He posted a stock photo and when I e-mailed him asking for a photo of the actual puppet he told me that was it, but that he "sold" it. He told me he charges $350.00 a piece and that he researches and uses the...

    Keeping glasses on your puppet

How about cutting a very thin line into the arms of the glasses for the thread to slip in? This could solve the sliding problem.....

    Kermit eyes?

I didn't even have to go that far, I just pinched them off with pliers, and yes, they are much better than ping pong balls... :)

    Kermit eyes?

I actually took the pins off of the bottom of the domed ones and filled the middle with foam, then just hot glued them.... my concern was how they would interfere with finger placement as well, but I suppose you could cut them down a little just as easy. The only reason I went this route is I...

    A Lidsville movie

Billy Barty was another great one who worked alot on many (if not all) of the Krofft productions (he also played Sigmund). That's funny about Charles Nelson Reilly, didn't he also do the live shows when they toured with the Brady Kids?
