    Remembering Fred Rogers...

Mister Rogers... without that man my childhood wouldn't be nearly so good. He gave me a joy of life that few can give. Though I feel as though this day has ended my childhood, I know that as long as I see that warm face on a PBS rerun I'll never completely grow up. At school today my...

    Arm Rods

Oh! Also at Muppetfest Amy van Gilder told me that they don't attach the rod to the inside of the PALM, but to the inside of the INDEX FINGER. The puppet can gesture and point a lot better that way. So however they attach it, it's not in the palm... --"Scary" Larry Wolf

    mouth mechanisms?

Aren't those hook removers a bit small for this sort of thing though? How big do they come? Oh! I just had an epiphany! Barbeque tongs! --"Scary" Larry Wolf

    Arm Rods

I don't know if you know this or not, and I don't know about the top of the rod, but I did make a discovery about the bottom of it. At Lowe's hardware store you can get this stuff called "backer rod" -- it looks like a long foamy worm. If you cut it into sections and jab a hole in them, they...

    mouth mechanisms?

Oh, also I know of a tool my grandma uses to grab things that are too far for her to reach. I don't know what it's called or exactly where to get one though. Try examining those dinosaur-head kiddie toys that are on the end of a rod and move their mouths when you pull a trigger. That would...

    mouth mechanisms?

You are in luck! Kitchen supplies such as meatballers or tea strainers work very well for mouth making purposes. Experiment with how to cover them -- meatballers can be painted, but I'd advise against it as that can get chipped. The "Muppets Make Puppets" book has a myriad of helpful hints...

why do none of you like me do you want me to leave

Of course we like you! Welcome to the forum! I'm guessing you started this thread because nobody has answered your "dose anybody know why the Muppets were canceled" thread, right? Well just hang on. people probably haven't written back yet because they don't know. It can take a couple days...

Hey all you older, wiser filmmakers out there!

Yeah, it's just a project I've been working on with some people who actually want to help me. I've never been able to finish a film before because not enough people were helping me, but I have a lot of support on this one. So it's kinda just for experience at this point and I was hoping I...

    Still looks like foam.....

I talked a little w/ Amy Van Gilder @ Muppetfest and from what I remember they spray glue on the foam and then stick it in an "oven" (that is definately the wrong word -- kids, don't try this at home!) or some such thing that, by means of static charge, sticks a bunch of little nylon fuzzies to...

Hey all you older, wiser filmmakers out there!

Perhaps I should have explained my idea a little better: This film is FAR from being un-original. This is to be a "psychological thriller" (comically, of course) based on how A. A. Milne's stories had the potential to destroy Christopher Robin's ability to distinguish between fantasy and...

Hey all you older, wiser filmmakers out there!

I am making an independent film involving the Winnie the Pooh characters, and I was wondering about the legal twists and turns I'd have to go through if I wanted to sell my film, since the characters are copyrighted and all. The thing is, I know Disney owns the rights to the characters now, but...

To build? Or not to build? That is the question.

This thread REALLY interests me. I was wondering if any of you more experienced builders could fill me in on something about the eyelid mechanism; I've tried making one before in a live-hands puppet -- it was on a string that went all the way from the head to the bottom of his body and I can...

So what are some of your new year's resolutions?

I thought of a couple other resolutions: 1. Stand up strait. As an artist I like to be as close to what I'm working on as possible, so I hunch my back to get closer, which is not good. Hopefully this won't make me less of an artist... 2. I should get stronger. I've started doing...

So what are some of your new year's resolutions?

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY! Well, my New Year's Resolution is to be more outgoing. I make a lot of plans and don't really follow them through and I'm gonna make a better effort at it this year. Of course, most of that has to do with...

    Long, beautiful HAIR

Well, yeah, I know Jerry and Frank don't have long hair, but I didn't mention them because I was trying to be nice :) As for Dave, Brian, and Carroll Spinney, I've seen plenty of pics with them in long hair. But you're right, some Muppeteers don't have long hair. Eric Jacobson does though...

    Long, beautiful HAIR

Well, I know in the past we've yapped a lot about the fact that Steve has long hair, and from what I've seen -- heck! -- none of the Muppeteers have short hair (well, practically). What I want to know is WHY? It seems logical to crop it short so it won't get into the camera shots, although I...
