Interesting. I have the opposite view on that part. Breaking the fourth makes the first two more actual movies. The characters doing it is them admitting its just a movie. No breaking the fourth wall makes things seem more real.
Well I agree. They are married in "real life". We never saw their actual wedding. All we have is that existing scene in the movie. But its a great scene! I don't think a new one would improve on it. So it is a fine substitute for fans for whatever their private, secretive wedding would have been...
Agreed. Also there would be no point of a new wedding scene. Nothing could ever top the scene in Muppets Take Manhattan with all the guest cameos from the various shows.
Its fantastic!
I wonder who conceived this idea. The hosts of the show, its producers or Eric in collaboration. This was clearly planned out and it benefits.
On top of that I think there are a couple of reasons why the Muppets recent appearances have been so good.
1 The new performers of the...
This is awesome! Great location in front of the El Captain which was the exterior of the Muppet Theater in the movie. In fact it almost feels like an extension of the film's plot. Back in the limelight they get a Star on the Walk of Fame.
Of course the timing being the same day as the DVD...
Well I don't mean a DVD release right now, only if it HAD gotten a summer release. Most summer 2011 movies are already out on DVD. WIth this chosen schedule it will likely be out on DVD in February or March. Not a peek gift buying season.
You are not getting my point. No matter the age of a franchise or the amount of money made at the theaters, many kids might see the new film for the first time on the DVD. Than be more demanding to see the sequel right away.
That's true, it may be helped by being out this time of year. Even if there are drops it will likely have a llong run. There are few new releases in the month of January. So November and December movies with good word of mouth tend to have good legs than.
While this is a older franchise it's a restart. These days sequels tend to make more because of interest build by the memory of the previous film. The next Muppet film will benefit from it. Also this is the rare franchise where there are no stars who are going to be demanding higher paychecks...
Do kids really see repeat viewing of the same movie much these days? My brother takes my 9 year nephew sometimes. It's his birthday today so they are seeing the Muppets again. But my best friend never would take her 10 and 6 year old daughters to the same thing twice. To save money which I...
It is too early to worry about it. I doubt many kids see movies on Friday, they were in school unlike last week. Also parents have a say in what kids can see. Kids can not get to a theater alone.
I understand. I recently just got it through my local library system which has almost every official Muppet DVDs that can be requested through the Internet and sent to the closest location to me.
Exactly right !
For one thing the "Rich and Famous Contract" has no legal plausibility! Never did even in the first film. Which was the whole point, a romanticized version of the real Hollywood system.
My point is we are living in a different age now. The films we grew up on as kids we knew nothing about early script drafts or cut scenes. There was no internet to read about such things and no way of ever seeing missing footage on DVDs. THough stuff like this always has happened on movies.
