Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
i don't think brian henson disliked the film. and i feel that frank oz's disapproval came mostly from his personal feelings about the characters and not liking that total outsiders were sort of taking over what he felt a strong sense of ownership over
i'm sure he feels very strongly about...
for the record, i don't think August is necessarily a bad month to release it. you can get a hit at any time of the year, really. last year The Help came out in august and it was this huge surprise hit, partly because there was nothing else out. if anything, it might help it because of lack of...
yeah, i agree. actually i think i've changed my mind on the question of whether or not it's being "rushed"
disney just wants to to keep them out there and do another one while they still have something of the spotlight on. and they're not on tv or anything, so they probably do need to do...
Yeah, that's the only thing i'm worried about. you'd think with all the attention and the oscar win and the strong financial results, everything would be right on track. so hopefully whoever comes in sees that the same way
i hope. changes at the top can always have trickle down effects though. i actually thought that the muppets didn't get moving until bob iger had stepped down in 2009, is that not true?
well i guess i'm a little surprised that walter will feature "heavily"
i was half-expecting him to just be one of the gang next time around, with maybe just a couple lines. i still assume he won't have that big a part though. he can't have a bigger part than fozzie or piggy for example. i'd be...
i think focusing on the core group would be good: kermit, piggy, fozzie and gonzo. the other guys should have parts of course, but maybe delve into those friendships and relationships between the big four, so to speak. one of the things i did like about GMC was how much of a trio kermit, fozzie...
i doubt that. the movies are all separate things, and all the muppets are playing roles in them, so water's "role" in this one was to be related to gary. in the next one he probably won't be
one thing i would like: i would MUCH prefer it if they were themselves and not themselves in other roles
i love GMC too, but i always like it better when they're already a group and all know each other
oh, yes it is reciprocated. esp in the movies. they're together in every single movie, go back and watch the first three. the muppet show was where it was mostly not reciprocated, but even there occasionally there were several episodes where he was jealous.
well, it's never been the whole plot for any movie, but it has always been a very significant part of every movie, and that should continue to be. it's the underlying heart, and when they get away from that, like they did in the later films, the series tends to suffer. imo.
that's an interesting idea. muppets on tour- that might be kinda cool
i have to disagree on the kermit/piggy thing- i think that relationship is absolutely essential to the series. i kinda think the way they got away from that a bit in the 90s contributed some to their fade in popularity...
are you guys sure she wasn't territorial when frank was doing her? i beg to differ on that. i'm pretty sure she's always been extremely possessive of him
that's true. TMM was '79 and GMC was '81
but a summer 2013 release would actually be less than 2 years since the last one. i think a holiday release would be good
i do understand them wanting to take advantage of the character's current attention and all though.
i can't believe this is all happening so fast! although, i guess it doesn't take as long as effects driven films
still, i'm not so sure about a comedy caper, just because they've already done it. wouldn't it be directly compared to GMC? i don't want people to think they're just redoing their...
