Oh Joy...New study shows health risk in plastic bottles

He most certainly is. ;) Ahh, yes, now I see. Similar to Redsonga's case, my family couldn't afford kiddy cereals when I was growing up. It wasn't that I wasn't allowed to eat that stuff (which was mostly sugar) but it was something that after I grew up, I did sort of indulge in. I can see...

What was the last DVD you bought and why?

I just bought the entire series of 'Monty Python's Flying Circus'. Why, because it was on sale. True, I have it on VHS somewhere, but I wanted it on DVD so the price was right and I got it. I was happy...my husband less so. He's not a fan. Oh well, at least he likes Fraggle Rock. :D

    Silly Observations

Wow, you guys are amazing! I never thought about the idea of watching a movie on the computer. I had images of stacks of technological devices and diverting attention to watch a movie while typing. It didn't occur to me that people actually do watch movies on the computer. Maybe it's getting...

MC Community: Where is it going?

I have never felt myself too terribly inclined to get involved with that aspect of the forum, so there's no problem for me there. I mean; I'm sure that the folks here are very nice about helping someone get into that if they wanted to be involed in it. Of that I have no doubts whatsoever...

Oh Joy...New study shows health risk in plastic bottles

Plastics can be made without the chemical, I know that for a fact because we did do some research on it last night. I don't know specifically the price difference, so I can't say, but it would be interesting if someone in North America could find out. The question you raise about the prices...

    Silly Observations

I don't know if I should start a new thread for this or not, but seeing as a number of threads have a plethora of responses already, and this doesn't really apply to any one of them, I just thought I'd toss this out and see what you folks think about it. You know how we have all those different...

    On Writing Fan Fiction (Discussion)

I will openly admit that it is something that I had to learn and it was not easy. Sometimes I grew discouraged that people did not read my stuff. Then I started posting a story where one person started leaving page long comments to it and I had to accept that it was not quantity that made the...

MC Community: Where is it going?

As a recent new member to this forum, but being someone who has a good general idea of how a forum is run, I'd like to toss my two cents into the mixture here. Perhaps anything I have to say may not mean too terribly much to the powers that be simply because of my relative newness here. I...

    my father's death

Yes, I definitely know where you're coming from, Brian. My father was also a heavy smoker and an alcoholic, but we found our peace before he took ill and passed on in 1991, so yes, I know about the issues of forgiveness with alcoholism and the role of family. In fact, as I was reading your...

Oh Joy...New study shows health risk in plastic bottles

That's not necessarily true, my husband's father smoked two packs a day during his younger years. Then one day, his doctor came to him and told him, 'either you quit, or you die'. He quit, cold turkey and hasn't smoked a cigarette since. He didn't want to die and leave his family. Today, he...

    Pigs singing the Happy Wanderer

I would say 'watch your step' could be rendered as 'pass auf wo du hingehst.' German is a wordy language. No, it's in English with the Dutch undertitles, which can be shut on or off, but no Dutch soundtrack. Here is the Happy Wanderer in both English and German: The Happy Wanderer I love to...

Oh Joy...New study shows health risk in plastic bottles

OK, here's the deal, the substance, Bisphenol 5 is dangerous as are a great many chemicals or compounds. As my husband always says, people have to be careful around chemicals and make sure that when they eat or drink something, that they don't have it near or around chemicals. Pretty common...

What is the one thing that was talked about in the series...

Oh yeah, and as for the song thing, song lyrics are not easy to write. I know from experience. I've actually translated German lyrics to English ones, and talk about hard. So, I guess I can excuse the lyricists on that one particular point, but I do find it amusing nonetheless. :D

What is the one thing that was talked about in the series...

That's a great point there and yeah, you're right, they did seem to know more in songs than they knew in real life. I would have loved to have seen more Doc & Fraggle interaction after 'Change of Address'. Yeah, the show could have continued and I would never have minded. I love the...

    Pigs singing the Happy Wanderer

I will have to see if I can find a German version of that song here. Since the DVDs I have are done with Dutch undertitles, it would be rather hard to find it with a German voice over. But, I can see if I can find the lyrics of that song somewhere. My father-in-law is big into German...

    Pigs singing the Happy Wanderer

I do remember the 'Happy Wanderer' song. My husband said that that melody had German words to it, which reminded me very much of Germany or Austria because of the landscape they used. But, yes, I do remember that song and thought it was very clever. Oh and if you have a code free DVD player...

Oh Joy...New study shows health risk in plastic bottles

To me this is just another attempt at trying to raise people's hysterics about certain products and things. People use these sorts of studies all the time. In fact, when I was a kid, they linked the use of aluminum (as in pop cans) to Alzheimers. Suddenly everyone goes into a panic mode about...

The "I Saw Something REALLY Weird Today" Thread

Here's my dosage of weirdness for the day. We went to the grocery store where we can get neat stuff through collecting points. One of the items that was for sale was a bathroom scale. Of course, after they announced that they had that as one of the prizes, we went and discovered that they...
