Walt Disney Company - Classic Muppets???

Hi JJandJanice, Yes, you're right. And no, I don't take offence to it. I may get over it soon. Because at this rate, the Muppets will be by the way of the dodo bird. I don't hate Disney itself though (I mean, it's just a company) but as a lifelong Muppet fan I think that what has happened to...

"America's Next Muppet" mini-series in development

Save Muppets! LOL!!!! Too many people might get it confused with that punk anti-Disney audition campaign from last year! Save the Muppets! lol!

    What I think happened...

I didn't see King Kong. But yes, ILM did War of the Worlds (and pretty much all of Speilberg's stuff since JP). They also came in at the last minute and saved Peter Jackson's behind with the LOTR trilogy. In fact, anytime you see CG effects done by anyone, you have ILM's innovative work and...

TMS Season 2 Box Set - 2007 Release?

Personally, yes, I agree that the Muppets have lost alot of what they used to have, but I've felt that way since LONG before Disney owned them. They are still some of the finest entertainment in existance today. Nothing, in my book, can compare with what the Muppets are. Disney's aquisition...

    The most tear-jerking Muppet moment...

Yes, a tear-jerking discussion regarding Muppets cannot be complete without anyreference to his passing. I remember 1990, I was sixteen, and having not really thought about SS or the Muppets, suddenly I felt that it was really over. Sure, they continued, but the true vision and spirit undeniably...

    C'est Les Muppets Showue!

I see your point, and for that I agree. Fortunately I can understand French fairly well (being Canadian). But I do agree with everything you've typed there!

Walt Disney Company - Classic Muppets???

How am I missing the point? I started the thread posing the question! :concern:

"Muppets Ahoy!" Stage Show on Disney Cruise Line?

Well, if it's recorded, it's ACTRA in Canada. I know very, very few pro puppeteers who use EQUITY memberships.

    C'est Les Muppets Showue!

Perhaps you should look into the roots of the Muppet humor (particularily its strong British ones). The existence of Sam the Eagle says it all. It had spent years lampooning American culture while celebrating British culture. Henson saw himself not as much as an American citizen than a citizen...

    Muppet Babies DVD Box Sets

The show wasn't that great. I don't think we'll get any new Muppet DVD's for a long, long time (unless Columbia re-re-releases the films it still can).

    What I think happened...

CGI has its place. George Lucas (Lucasfilm pioneered Pixar for those who don't know) saw to that. Movies like Toy Story were quite something at the time. Now they're cranking them out a little too frequently. The last great one was Finding Nemo. It had heart and humor with wide appeal, not...

TMS Season 2 Box Set - 2007 Release?

Remember that Disney is running a very thin line, they know that the Muppets have a dedicated fan-base who will scream like crazy if they set a foot (flipper?) wrong in creating a new production...the way we all did after VMC and Mwoo...they also know that we will be complaining if they do not...

    Kermit Swamp Years - Opinions

Yes, this is true. I remember the TV guide review for it - it made it clear not to expect many of the old characters. It was likely an all-around move to lower expectations for people choosing to tune in.

Walt Disney Company - Classic Muppets???

Hmm. Perhaps my point wasn't very clear... What I'm trying to say is that Classic Muppets (productions with ie, Kermit, Piggy etc made while Jim Henson was alive) should at least deserve their own section? An old school-type of thing away from the Disney section?

Walt Disney Company - Classic Muppets???

I love this site, and I love the forums here. There, now that that's out of the way... When I browse the category of Classic Muppets, I forget often that it's in the 'Walt Disney Company' section. Now I'm asking this publically. Why? Classic Muppets, I assume, refer to the golden age of...

It was aired on TV first, but what does that have to do with it (devil's advocate)?

Well, were not all Equity, are we? ;)

Old Muppet Stage Show From MGM (FULL VIDEO!)

(shudder shudder) Yikes. That's what the Muppet show would have been had Sid and Marty Croft made it! That eerie Mickey voice though... the writing was on the wall for the frachise's decline!!!

    The most tear-jerking Muppet moment...

I can't believe the endurance of this thread. Does this mean we are all in touch with our feelings or we all need help? :concern:
