Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Forgot to mention, loved Earl reading Robbie's report card after his TV programming starts dumbing everyone down ("F, F, F...M. What was that for?" "Well, Dad, halfway through the report card, the teacher forgot the alphabet.").
For thise who've mentioned on this thread possibly having made the picture a full Muppet crossover production, might Doc have worked for Scrooge had Gerry Parkes been available and interested? Or if not, perhaps he could have had another role, either maybe in the narrator role with Sprocket as...
In a nutshell, all the Ask Mr. Lizard episodes ("We're going to need another Timmy!"). I also died laughing when the royal baby namer died while trying to name the Baby, leaving him stuck as Ughughimdyingyouidiot Sinclair.
Suffice to say, that's probably the same for all of us. Who if anyone can we consider writing to--short of the president, even though he probably would have little if any time to wade into the matter when the country faces more important issues at present--to try and force a change in the...
The one I remember most is when he asked the anything Muppet (may have been Fat Blue) if he could keep an "I" on his hat, and then once he got approval, dropped the oversized I onto the hat, crushing it.
A happy 30th as well to the show that shaped my earliest years the most. There was no more excitable feeling than when those first strains of the theme song would hit and I would eagerly start dancing in front of the screen ("dancing" in the mind of a 3 year old being rocking from side to side...
The "TV repair" sketch is probably my favorite ("H....H...H...H..."); others include:
-nephew Brad's bath ("It's only a pretend shark...")
-Ernie counting the sheep and fire engines
-following the arrows around the apartment
-"I Dance Myself to Sleep"
-Ernie plays the drums to Bert...
I suppose it would be possible that he'd somehow heard Santa's name before (either an earlier Matt postcard or some artifact another Fraggle he knows it the Rock had somehow), but up till the point he got the postcard in Carpets had no idea exactly WHO Santa was, that perhaps he knew Santa was...
A Muppet Family Christmas for me as well; as has been said before, along with the thrill of having every major character in every universe together, it's just beautifully put together, as if they were trying to make it the ultimate Muppet magnum opus of them all (and in many ways, it very much is).
The author has passed on at his home in London; he was 86. For more information:

The entire Don't Drop Inn segment ("WHEEERRRRE'S MYYYYYYY JEELLLLLLOOOOOOOO!!!!!????") , Super Grover mistaking the Robinsons' Volkswagon for Big Bird and crashing through the roof ("This is not Big Bird! You are imposters!"), "Upside-Down World," ("I'm afraid you lost him, Bert." "I LOST...
That would be about right, for I never heard any voiceovers during the 80s episodes--when I actually stayed tuned for the chimes, which I'll confess scared me to death back then, sounding almost apocalyptic at age 3.
And indeed I can confirm it's not The Works; the primary photos there are those of the puppeteers with their characters and the various Docs with their Sprockets.
One that really got to me was Bored Stiff. Seeing our heroes comatized and blank, unable to say anything beyond, "BOOOOORRRING," (although Gobo yelling the "HEEELLLLLLLLPP!" trigger phrase into Mokey's face to test the bordeom juice's effectiveness and getting the aforementioned response for it...
The best possible answer to give: only time will tell (although tracking down the relevant persons and putting them through the Ordeal of the Glumberglots to make sure couldn't hurt).
I'd also prefer to see the complete version back on TV somewhere, anywhere. It and the other classic Muppet holiday specials would be the ideal addition to ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas if things could be ironed out for broadcast; if the Walt Disney Company brass could also be swayed by the...
The newspaper article I learned of it from has pictures of a 70s era Kermit, King Goshposh & Featherstone, and Sir Linit of the commercial for the fabric finisher. It also mentions Ernie & Bert, unspecified FR characters, and Dr. Bredlaw Freedly as being there.
