This thread is brought to you by the letter L!

Yeah he did. I remember that deep and distinct voice pretty well. Another similar cartoon letter skit that also sounded like James Earl Jones was where the two boys were wondering what a letter was and the man says, "It's the letter a". They say, "The what?" And he says, "It's the letter a."...

    Favorite Bert and Ernie Sketch

Yeeeessssss that's it! Thanks mike, I just couldn't think of that magic chain but now it comes back to me. I remember Ernie fashioning it into a triangle, square, and circle. And an unimpressed Bert then requests about the balogna sandwich. Way to go! That's what I call fast service. :D

    Favorite Bert and Ernie Sketch

Yep I've seen those skits mentioned here, Mokeystar. They were both great skits. I always loved when the flashlight, umbrella, bowling ball one would come on. And I mentioned the peanut butter sandwiches one a while back as a rare example where Ernie actually let Bert eat his own food! :)...

    What's your favorite letter segment?

Also along these lines there was a w one where a guy says, "W. Wash." And a lady is taking out her clothes from a basket and hanging them up on a clothes line. Then she picks up the guy and hangs him up on the line and he says ,"W." Again, not sure if she did this on purpose or if he was just...

Question for those of you who shave

I started shaving at 15 and have never let myself grow a mustache or beard. Hate facial hair. And have always liked my hair short on my head. I get it cut real short by the barber, but have never gone so far as to have a crew cut yet. Sure would feel good in this current weather, though!

This thread is brought to you by the letter L!

That's true, I remember seeing the different video of the L song about that time. Also saw different video of either (or both) the "Everybody Eats" or "Everybody Sleeps" songs with the same audio. Another L one I remember was a lion chasing a leopard (animated) and the lion ends up falling (I...

    Need prayers for my dad

I added your dad to my daily prayer list (that also has Vibs, Vic Romano's friend, and Docnzhoss's family on it), Katzi. And just said a prayer for him right now.

How's the weather where you are?

Just as was promised for Philly today, the humidity was finally a little better and so instead of a temperature of 90 with a heat index of 100 like the last 2 days, it is 90 with a heat index also of 90. But 90 is still unpleasantly HOT. But thank God for the A/C blasting at me from above my...

This thread is brought to you by the letter L!

The classic favorite L song by Ernie and Bert definitely hits a home run out of the park in my book (or should I say stadium) too. La La La La Lump in my oatmeal! On the lake one I was always confused at the end because it sounded to me like the guy was shouting L in a distressed way but I...

    What's your favorite letter segment?

Poor guy. Hopefully he was addressed to be sent to Hawaii! That would be a nice silver lining. :)

    Rough Times Ahead

Hey Docnzhoss, good to see you. Yeah sometimes it really helps to count our blessings among the tough circumstances. Like with my family, my great aunt is 94 and her health is really declining. My great uncle died at 94 last year. His last 3 months were not good and it was real sad to see him...

    What's your favorite letter segment?

A couple of those short animated letter segments with that little box bubble: A y one had a guy (rather old looking) say, "Y. yoyo." And a little boy in that box is playing with a yoyo. Then the mean old guy takes scissors and cuts the string of the boy's yoyo. He laughs with a sinister "heh...

How's the weather where you are?

And it's especially important to drink water in this hot and muggy weather. As expected, it's 90 right now with a heat index of 98. Having today off (then working the next TEN in a row!) I mowed the lawn and did all my yard work this morning while it was only AWFUL outside instead of BRUTAL like...

Any other places to buy used stuff besides ebay?

I've had all good experiences with Ebay too. It's amazing how much things from the 70's and 80's people have that are still in such great condition. I've purchased old games, books, vhs tapes, etc. that looked like they were in as great shape as they were orignally on the store shelves back...

    Sesame Street films

That baker one is not coming to mind. How about one where an ice skater does a figure 8? I remember it leaving an 8 in the ice and she says, "eight" at the end. Don't remember much else, but I don't think too much else happened. She probably just said "eight" at the beginning (or, "I'm going to...

    What's your favorite letter segment?

Ah thanks Xerus. I had forgotten the glove and gate. And glad you confirmed that it was this one where the glue spilled all over the boy and the grandfather squirted him clean. That's funny how that part came back to me while I was in the middle of posting about it. :)

How's the weather where you are?

:) I also seldom drink diet or regular soda. I'm a big consumer of bottled water (Aquafina or Dasani). About the only other beverage I drink with frequency is Welch's purple grape juice. When I'm at restaurants I'm one of those "just water" people when the waiter asks what I want to drink with...

How's the weather where you are?

Speaking of diet soda, thought I'd paste this link to a news article I just saw about how it can actually lead to more weight gain than loss. http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/content/article/107/108476.htm Not trying to be depressing, just thought this was interesting!

How's the weather where you are?

As expected, the temp reached 90 today with the high humidity making it feel like 100. Tomorrow is more of the same. The next six days after that are also 90 or 90's (YUCK!) but at least the humidity is supposed to be lower. For dinner I'm gonna heat up a Hungryman frozen meal. Probably one...
