Speaking of diet soda, thought I'd paste this link to a news article I just saw about how it can actually lead to more weight gain than loss.

Not trying to be depressing, just thought this was interesting!
It ws indeed! Truth be told, I do not like diet sodas that much, it's just that you can't convince my mother that anything with the word "diet" in the name is not better for you.

 I also seldom drink diet or regular soda. I'm a big consumer of bottled water (Aquafina or Dasani). About the only other beverage I drink with frequency is Welch's purple grape juice. When I'm at restaurants I'm one of those "just water" people when the waiter asks what I want to drink with my meal.

I have family members like that, and it drives me nuts when they do that. At least you actually like water and aren't just ordering it because it's free.

Ha Ziffel, that reminds me of my trip to New York, where I don't think I ever had an actual drink. I always had "Just Water", cause I was always in a hurry and short on cash!

Now if that was me, I'd seek down the places that insist on serving coffee at fifty cents a cup. I hate the stuff, but I've never ordered "just water" in a restaurant, and I never intend to either.

Hehehe, you sound like my fella, if he offers to get me a drink and I ask for a glass of water he fully grimaces and tries to make me have something else. We have lovely hard water here and it tastes beautiful, much better than my poor Aunt who lives a little outside of London, her soft water is foul.

As for ordering in a restaurant, I have been known to have water, it entirely depends on my mood.

Besides which if you're thirsty you'd do better with water, caffeine has a mild diuretic effect.

And it's especially important to drink water in this hot and muggy weather. As expected, it's 90 right now with a heat index of 98. Having today off (then working the next TEN in a row!) I mowed the lawn and did all my yard work this morning while it was only AWFUL outside instead of BRUTAL like it is now. I had to keep coming in for cold water every 20 minutes.
Didn't have breakfast. Lunch was a turkey sandwich, some fruit, and a heaping portion of mint chocolate chip ice cream to help cool off!

YEEE-HAW! This is now a sticky thread! Boy, I've hoped for a while now, but I didn't think it would actually happen. Boy, I'm a bit overexcited. Must be all the caffeine.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to give a big "Thank you!" to whatever mod did this. I think both Phil and Kevin were on this morning, and as I don't know which is responsible, I thank you both.
