The only reason I can think of that they wouldn't post a new photo (they have to have gotten a newer prototype from the factory) is that he hasn't changed. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. I want him to be a great Great Gonzo, but it does seem odd that it's so difficult to take a pitcure. Even a crummy picture of a new prototype would be better than nothing.

:stick_out_tongue:
I would have to agree with you that it seems likely that he hasn't changed. His nose was causing all sorts of problems and suddenly he's done and on the water but no pictures are available? C'mon! Suddenly pre-ordering him no longer seems like a good idea. Benefit of the doubt is one thing but the total silence on Gonzo seems suspicious:confused:

Or they think that we want the pictures after they get them in is I am thinking. I don't think they realize that a lot of people want to see him before they ship him out. A few of us asked MR to give us some new pictures, I don't think they are just saying it to shut us up. I really hope they don't set a bad example of not keeping there word.

Also, I just checked my account information at MR and it says pending payment. So this means that they will be pulling the money for it not too long from now. I got other things coming from them as well this week.

The reports on Gonzo have been vague. I know they admitted to "going back to the drawing board" or something with the design, but no one knows when exactly that was done and if the pictures on their site are before or after that process. 2,500 is a large edition. I'm not certain what the strategy is there? I just really hope Gonzo looks good and they switch marketing photographs with newer better images. I'm sure he cannot look as he does in their website product photos. Even the Con pics looked better.

Honestly, I'm not sure they even know how the final product looks. I suspect we'll hear something by the second week in February when he is scheduled to hit the warehouse. I'd be shocked if there's not a shipping delay, but that would not be their doing. They must get faster shipping than Palisades many factories.

I'm personally not expecting to see new Gonzo photos until after Valentine's Day. Just my guess. :concern:

I find this very hard to believe. They must have gotten a final prototype before they okay'd production. I can't imagine them saying, "Change this and this and this and then make 2500 of them," without seeing how the changes look. That would be foolish and they've been in business too long and with too high a quality product to do something that foolish.

I'd agree, although it may have been ok'd by whoever their qc person in china was, so it may not have made it over the seas, but obviously photos would have. They may not want to show factory photos, as they won't have been posed or lit for sales purposes but it would have been nice, and encouraged those concerned to pre-order if things had been better. I would guess they've made some improvements so it should be better but i'd be dissapointed if they didn't show pictures before the products are sent out - that's just really bad sales practice.

I was talking about receiving the final product, not the prototype. No matter how things are planned, the final product can be (and usually is at least a little) different. This does happen quite often to companies of all types. I suspect they're waiting on seeing what an *actual* piece looks like. The changes could have been on a larger scale than we think and they could have also been last possible minute. :concern:

Maybe the prototype they have differs too much from the final production piece for their taste. I don't have word of that, but it is more likely than has been stated.

I know for a fact that this is something that MR has always done is never show the final product when all they have is the prototype. I have been with them for years now. When they showed us the prototype for the Stormtrooper Helmet, this is the only one we went by and it was not done right according to the fans. This was the last time we ever heard about it. I myself ordered one of these helmets and that was the only time I got to see the final product, and so did everyone else. The outcome was really good when I got it. But a lot of you are right, they should have new pictures even though people ordered it or planning to order it. I think it would relieve some of the tention and make the ordering proccess a lot better and everyone would know what they are getting.

I would agree, except that the pictures they STILL have on their website for Kermit and Animal are of the prototypes... and Gonzo, for that matter.

Whatever is going on, this is just very bad customer service. How many people here didn't pre-order Gonzo because of the lack of information? Quite a few. I'm certain, without knowing any exact numbers, that the pre-orders for Gonzo are much lower than the last two. They have to know this is the reason.

I haven't yet for that very reason. But I haven't gotten Animal yet either. I'm hoping soon, if I can ever get a response back from MR CS that was sent 2 weeks ago.

I haven't pre-ordered a Gonzo. My thinking - there's 2,500 of them so the price might go down if he's not great-looking. Even if he is stunning, the Kermits took a while to sell so I'll have time to wait for the price to lower if patience overtakes my body (which I doubt if he looks great).

You are right, I just wasn't going to pre-order based on that terrible picture. Even if I am getting him either way. It would send the wrong message for publishing that crummy photo. :concern:

I think we're all in agreement that the Gonzo *photograph* is terrible. :sympathy:
