I think we are taking this a little too serious don't you think? They are just collecters pieces and we haven't even seen the final product. I think we are going way over our heads, boycotts, protest........over a collecter item. Travis is working his himself to death to make sure that we have something that we all love to have. It is not going to be perfect. No one said it was going to be. He wants us to have something that we can have to cherish for a long long time. So he is doing the best he can. If he is or was reading these right now he would be shaking his head. You are not going to make everyone happy and everything is not going to come out what you expect. That is life........but over a collecter item? This is a little over the top and really sad to hear. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Let others enjoy it for all what it is worth.
While I agree that protests and boycotts are over the top, I do think that Gonzo's odd lookingn ose is enough to simply not buy him. It's just not right looking. I would rather they hold off on producing him until a solution is made. There must be some kind of foam like material, or foam looking material they can use. But really, if Gonzo's nose stays as is I won't even consider buying it. Not to mention the suit color being wrong and the fur being off. They would be better off skipping Gonzo for now than trying to use bad solutions. Do Fozzie or skip to Rizzo. Scooter would be a great choice instead of Gonzo.

I had a thought last night ... what if they used some kind of "Nerf" type foam, but painted with a coating that has texture to protect it and make it look more real. Those Nerf footballs and toys last for a long time. Just a thought, I really don't know what I'm talking about.

I would have to admit, when I saw Terry's Gonzo, I thought it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen avilable to buy. Gonzo has always been my favorite and has rarely been done justice in Muppet merchandise - infact many items appear to have been crafted by people using just their feet whilst blindfolded. So, the thought of owning the replica Gonzo that I saw on the early pictures was a thing of dreams...which is where it looks like it's staying. Every new picture of the MR Gonzo seems to be rapidly heading towards the BAD Muppet products that we have had in the past. My biggest worry is that this is a one shot deal. It's unlikely a line like this will ever be done again and it seems such a travesty that something that started out so right has turned into such a disappointment. I know the early pictures of the MR Kermit didn't do the product justice. However the things that make Kermit Kermit were present and correct, and minus a few tiny quibbles, is the best Muppet collectable availble to own ever. I not concerned with the MR Animal either. The quintessential elements that make Animal Animal are all there and with a tiny amount of posing skill will make any doubters rethink the matter. Gonzo on the otherhand is sooooo wrong and I truly do hope the comments on this thread make their way to the people concerned as we all want this line to succeed just as much as they do.

Thats the final version? Oh no. How could they have gotten the eyes so wrong? They are clearly side by side with no space.
I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I was watching the Season Two DVD's this morning and I freeze framed Animal when he was full-on facing camera with his eyebrows up and there is a definite gap between his eyes. The whites are not touching. As soon as he turns his head a little one way or the other, it appears that they are touching, but when you see him straight on, it was clear that there was space between the whites.

I can't speak to other versions of the puppet or photo puppets, but Season Two Animal definitely has space between his eyes.

Nerf

I think you're on to something. I agree, the Nerf material gets my vote. I'm wondering if they're still trying to make the nose bendable. I really don't favor that. Just want it looking right. I'm sure there must be some kind of light-weight material out there that'll do and it just might be Nerfs!

Re: Gonzo's Nose:

Doesn't Nerf foam deteriorate over time?

I'd be good with a vinyl nose formed the way Palisades did their texture.

While I also agree that protests and boycotts are over the top, no, I don’t think we’re taking this too seriously. It shows how passionate we are and how we wanna get the very best Gonzo and Muppet replicas we can at this price range.

I'm sure they can find something to do the nose right, as long as it fits. All I know, is that if Gonzo turns out like recent pictures, I'll save $185 bucks and buy a Muppets 3D stuffed Gonzo.

Maybe it's because I saw him in person, but I'm definitely buying MR's Gonzo. It's the most spot-on replica you'll ever find, and anybody saying it's not can't be right because it's coming from the proper patterns.

Getting it right for mass production is another thing.

I'm still getting him because, other than the Palisades action figures (not the first one) this is the closest "Gonzo" looking collectible ever made. And our Frogboy was at hand for getting Gonzo right at Palisades--cheers to his hard work!

I dont see why they couldn't use a very thin fleece or even that gauze type of material, the gauze may be able to be worked into something.

Vinyl forget it, I mean then you're completely throwing "replica" out the window, that wouldnt even look right unless it was a cheap stuffed animal kinda thing. That’s what the McDonalds plushes have.

I take that back... I can speak to other versions. Look at that avatar directly above my previous post. As tiny as that picture is, you can see black between the whites of Animal's eyes. So, there's another example.
