Oh wow, Sara, I am so sorry to hear about this. How scary! I really hope everything works out well, and I hope your foot heals very, very soon.

Mmmm, thank you! *picks up a doughnut and a glass of orange juice* Perfect!

Ouch! I'm getting a pain in my feet just reading that...take care of yourself, Sara, follow the doc's orders and get well soon, okay?

As for the subject of innocence...well, one of my professors (who specializes in children's and adolescent lit) might disagree a bit, but that's a topic for another thread.

I hope you heal quickly, Sara! Remember it's not what happens to us in life, it's how we deal with them!

MuppetNewsgirl, you can feel free to share your thoughts if you want about kids entertainment, hehe.

Oh, it's nothing, really - it's just that my prof doesn't terribly care for children's books and shows that portray childhood innocence as something to be cherished; she prefers the books where the kids are empowered and able to grow. I agree with her on some counts, I suppose - but then again, this same prof dislikes the Harry Potter books, which I adore. Just my two cents' worth.

But I do like Bean and Lugsy's song - very much the spirit of the Muppets in that one.

(snags another doughnut, and drops off a virtual ice pack for Sara)

Ahh, well it could be that your prof and I have a difference of opinion of what "innocence" means. It's like the difference between childlike and childish. Childish means you're immature and not growing and taking responsibility in life. Childlike means you do learn and grow but still retain a certain joy in life and appreciate simple things.

Hmm...yes, that probably is the case. And there were a whole slew of cultural implications we discussed in the books, and all that stuff. It's probably proof that I've spent way too much time in a university classroom, but there ya go.

Now then, back to all things Richard:

Lately, I've been mulling over some of the things mentioned in Richard's tribute show on the MuppetCast, especially the story of the heartbroken woman by the duck pond. It must have meant the world to her to have Richard see her, pull over and ask her what was wrong.

Let's just say that it proves that not all guardian angels have halos and wings...

Lol, nay it's great and useful to learn these things, it's the last time you'll really hae the opportunity (and time!). It's just that these issues are always so complex!

I think what it also shows is, it's not about wondering why bad things happen in the world. It's about wondering, what can I do to fix it?

And btw, again with respect:

What a sweet speech and it's amazing to know the impact of what he did and left the world and with with the projects he created and was associated with! It just speaks volumes!

It's funny how Richard called Steve and his Kermit suit out!
