Same here; I'm not really a Puritan either, but I'm none too fond of in-your-face lewd jokes. (My mom routinely jokes that a Puritan who is unnerved by the knowledge that "somewhere, someone just might be having a good time.")
Yeah exactly, and we like having fun at the RHLC!
Let's see...you're an Italian-American, and I am an Irish-German-various-parts-of-Eastern-European-American...yeah, I'm your basic mutt.
Cool! Well if I was being more specific, I'm also Sicilian, a little bit Spanish and possibly Asian from way way back.
They just posted a blurb on Muppet Wiki about Little Muppet Monsters, and Richard appears to have been involved in many ways in it - he's listed as a puppeteer, a voice actor for the animated segments, and the performance director.
Thanks for pointing that out! Oh man, I hope that someone, somewhere makes that show available some day! I still can't believe The Museum doesn't have it (then you KNOW it's hard to find! Lol). It's great that Jim was clearly trying to give Richard more responsibilties and opportunities. Obviously not all of them worked out, but that is also part of showbiz after all.
"Performance director", might have been an extenstion of his training the new puppeteers. Lol, I always think of how the new puppeteers always described him as a tough nut to crack but also cared about getting them to do their best. I was looking around the new Sesame Workshop Video site again, and I happened to find this one song called "Don't Be a Tough Nut to Crack", Lol. Some of it kinda reminds me of Richard, lol. (The rest...well bare in mind this song is being sung by a bunch of squirrels...and they're singing about...a nut...Lol)
"We know that you are in there somewhere.
We won't give up on you cause we care.
You are the best, just harder than the rest.
Don't be a tough nut to crack.
Because we know you taste so sweetly
we want to crush you up completely.
So please don't hide. We know you're soft inside.
Don't be a tough nut to crack.
So far your shelf reminds unbroken
As nuts go you're the only one.
No truer words were ever spoken.
And we won't give up till we're done!
We know to you this may sound vicious.
It's just we know that you're delicious.
Inside that shell, we know that you taste swell.
Don't be a tough nut to crack!"
