(chuckle) At the moment, the things that scare me the most are the letters MLA. Say those to any English major and you'll cause him/her to break out in a cold sweat.
On the other hand, I just finished up a particularly nasty term paper, so my head's aching a little less and my blood pressure's a little lower.

"I'm telling ya, this is one of the weirdest sketches we've done." Right on, Scooter. And I think the floating Jabberwock head adds a certain surreal touch, don't you think?
And Rowlf nearly breaks some of Scooter's ribs when he proclaims "Come to my arms, my beamish boy!"

Well at Claudia's insistence, I finally decided to rent ::gulp:: Muppet Wizard of Oz.

I immediately skipped to Scooter's big cameo. And all I can say is..."Awwww!" Lol, wow, that was even better than I expected! When I first saw that empty chair and heard "Huh?", my heart skipped a beat. It's amazing how accurate Rickey's performance was. Scooter really did live again tonight.

As for the film itself...well...I've only watched a little bit so far. Some of it is nice, quick chuckles, cute moments and all. I really like Janice's line to Piggy, "You know like not everyone has groovy flying motorbikes, OK?"

But then a slightly dirty joke (not to be confused with adult humor) or mean spirited pun would pop up and spoil the mood for me. And I am NOT a Puritan. I'm a big fan of South Park and a member of the KISS Army! It's just that I prefer adult humor to be more subtle and less in your face. Not to mention less jaded and cruel. Don't mean to sound like a geek, but Floyd would never call the band's bus "lousy!"

Plus, as an Italian American, I just don't appreciate that Johnny character, heh.

Contrary to what just about everyone said, I thought Ashanti was fine. She kinda reminds me of my Grandma, sweet but tough at the same time.

All in all so far, I'll give it a "Nice try" and a sincerely gracious "Keep trying!"

It was much, much better than Muppets From Space which is always a plus. But nowhere near the level of The Muppet Movie.

But it's OK. Look how long it took Disney to recover from Walt's death. I think it's a lot to except the Muppets to be fully recovered, even now.

Thanks for pointing that out! Oh man, I hope that someone, somewhere makes that show available some day! I still can't believe The Museum doesn't have it (then you KNOW it's hard to find! Lol). It's great that Jim was clearly trying to give Richard more responsibilties and opportunities. Obviously not all of them worked out, but that is also part of showbiz after all.

"Performance director", might have been an extenstion of his training the new puppeteers. Lol, I always think of how the new puppeteers always described him as a tough nut to crack but also cared about getting them to do their best. I was looking around the new Sesame Workshop Video site again, and I happened to find this one song called "Don't Be a Tough Nut to Crack", Lol. Some of it kinda reminds me of Richard, lol. (The rest...well bare in mind this song is being sung by a bunch of squirrels...and they're singing about...a nut...Lol)

I squealed.

I never expected him to make a cameo!

Lol, brave, that's a good word. But yeah thanks, the Scooter cameo was awesome and the best thing in the movie from my pov.

Well, like I said, it wasn't as bad as MFS, but it didn't leave me with the warm fuzzies either. But I am glad I watched it, since you should know what you're talking about when discussing things.

Same here; if I were to rent MWoO, it'd be for Scooter's appearance. 'Cause honestly, let's face it, I didn't feel a screaming urge to grab it off the shelf when I spotted it in the store. I remember thinking, "It won't be the same."

I've kind of been off the computer today - all the work I've had to do for final projects has left me with an aching right wrist. But at least I'm not tingling, so it's not carpal tunnel.

And as for "performance director..." yeah, that probably meant that he was the Muppet captain - the same role Kevin Clash fills on SS these days. On Fraggle Rock, on the other hand, when he was a director he was in charge of both the Muppet and human casts, and the crew as well.

Hmm, yes, I certainly see where "Don't Be a Tough Nut to Crack" could apply to Richard...and that's how it is, the sweet, tender nuts usually are found in hard shells.

I think I wrote this a while back, but I'll write it again: Richard seems to have been the kind of guy who'd make you pole-vault over a high stone wall, but he'd be waiting on the other side to catch you as you came over.

You know, I do remember you writing this, but it definitely deserves repeating! I love it. And it's so true, it's the perfect way to describe him. And this might sound strange, but he is exactly the kind of guy I'd want to work with and learn from. Someone who's tough and knows just what he wants, but on the inside, he's a softie who just wants the best for and from everyone. Awwwwww, hehe!

And about the performance director... that's very interesting. I like the sound of it! One of many perfect jobs for him, as we all know. Very cool to know that he did so much for Little Muppet Monsters, too.

Right on - I'd rather have the boss who barks a lot but who's all heart underneath, as opposed to someone who looks nice and gentle on the surface but who's a real tyrant inside.

Sure, Richard does put on the he-who-must-be-obeyed act on the studio floor occasionally...but if another puppeteer was having a personal crisis of some kind, I'll bet Richard would have been the first to run over and offer his shoulder to cry on.

Let's see...Richard's been a puppeteer, voice actor, screen actor, performance director, production consultant (for Ghost of Faffner Hall) and director.
And it is cool to know that, when either Jim or Richard direct on FR, while the cameras are rolling, the director is down there in the trenches with the other actors, instead of being ensconced up in a control room.

Oh yeah you have to be careful when typing so much. Changing your positions occasionally when typing can help. I'm thinking of looking into therapy exercises.

I do remember when you wrote that, MN! (Though I guess I can call you Erin now hehe. Yeah I'm weird lol). Similar things were said about John Lennon and George Harrison. Paul once said that John felt the need to have a tough exterior to protect himself. And a lot of people say about George that he was always very hard to get close to and didn't mind being rude if he didn't like someone. But once he let you in, he was amazingly generous with his close friends.

I agree, sometimes the difficult teachers are the ones who actually know what they're talking about! Hehe Not always, but you need to keep an open mind when judging people and not just look for the "nice" teachers. I admit, I'm not always great at this, but being aware of a problem is the first step. We keep trying in life.
