"Well, another Halloween's come and gone..."

"Yes, Charlie Brown..."

"I can't believe it, I went trick or treating all night and all I got was a sack full of rocks!"

Lol, poor Charlie Brown, good grief!

Hope everyone had a goodnight! And I agree, we shouldn't be so uptight about acting a little silly and having fun with Halloween. But then it shouldn't be just an excuse to get drunk either.

Anyway, we still have candy left over...and it's probably a good idea if I don't go anywhere near it!...oh what the heck, brb!

::Later::

Hi again! Well Halloween and October are over, and it's now it's time to concentrate on Thanksgiving. Or as it could be called lately "Proto-Christmas!" Meaning, the way the stores seem to view the holidays. First Halloween dominates the floorspace up front. Thanksgiving is given its own little shelf in the corner. And way in the back is the increasing number of Christmas stuff! When Halloween is finally over, we don't go straight on to Thanksgiving. Instead, we head right into Christmas, and Thanksgiving is still stuck with its own tiny shelf! Lol

Oh, yeah - and since it's just once a year, that makes it all the more fun.

The problem is, Halloween parties aimed at our generation put less emphasis on Halloween and more emphasis on "party." And I mean party in the libertine sense, with the boozing and the risque costumes and all that. That's not at all my cup of tea.

I'd much rather see a big bowl of punch, plates of cookies and sweets, a few pumpkins, some maize and some ghosts set around here and there for decor...and some decent spooks, of course.
It really does make it more fun! I see what you mean. It's like just resorting to the lowest common denominator with us. And I'm so with you about the food and the decorations. but you just don't need to do that kind of self destructive behavior to have a good time as preachy as it may sound. And it the long run it's really just not going down a very good or smart path, you know?

I love the line "I got a rock..." LOL! I've been saying it so much lately.

Right, I think theres a big difference between having fun and thinking you have to get that way in ordered to have fun. There are so many other non self destructive ways to have fun.

Aw. Poor Thanksgiving! But you do have to be thankful for that little shelf.

I know - I spotted Christmas decorations in one of the drugstores near here last week. It's revolting. In my house, we have a strictly enforced rule: no Christmas music, decorations or anything Noel-related until after the Thanksgiving leftovers are cleared away. Once we start having coffee and pumpkin pie, we may play Christmas music. But once the Epiphany is past, the ban goes back into effect until next Thanksgiving.

We kind of have a new tradition: each year for the past four years, on the day after Thanksgiving, we've gone into New York for the day to start our shopping. Believe it or not, New York on Black Friday is a lot saner and more civilized than most suburban malls that day (just steer clear of Macy's; the place is always mobbed).

Honestly, I don't mind the Christmas stuff coming early; I just find it all very amusing, lol. I get so much pleasure out of the holidays that I find it very difficult to wait. And I have waited, very patiently, for nearly a year! I've avoided Christmas related things all the way through October and now it's just becoming difficult. So I'm going to try focusing on Thanksgiving, but with a slight hint of Christmas.

Hey, RHLC-ers, if you're looking for a decent Christmas present this year, I'd recommend the Special DVD version of Trading Places. Now there's two different versions, but only one has all the bonus features. You can tell it by the cover; Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd hugging surrounded by dollars bills everywhere. At the top it says, "Looking good, feeling good" edition.

The bonus features are wonderful, funny interviews and pop up trivia during the movie. I prayed that they'd find a moment to mention Richard and thankfully they did. They pointed out in the pop up trivia that he was another Muppet puppeteer (since Frank was earlier in the film) who voiced Scooter and Statler.

Beyond that, the film itself looks shiny and new, very sharp. Personally I miss the grainy '80s look, lol. But on the up side, you really get a great look at Richard and his facial expressions (which are very nice hehe). And because it's wide screen, you get to see a bit more of his performance (lol you really feel bad for him, he's totally defeated by the good guys and that's great, he was being devious and all. But at the same time he really doesn't deserve what happens, he was just following orders! Lol). And also the DVD puts back some of the little bits of dialogue you couldn't really hear too well in the TV version. So you hear his character Wilson desperately yelling out "Selll!" and mumbling incoherently to the Duke brothers later. Lol, all in all I would recommend.

True - we are now well into hot chocolate season. And I keep a box of cocoa mix on the shelf next to my tea bags these days. (I love both tea and hot chocolate, but I'm not really a coffee drinker.)

Hey, heralde, you remember how, one time when you watched Muppets at Walt Disney World, you spotted Richard sitting in the audience at the stunt show? It's been mentioned on Muppet Wiki, on the page with Richard's cameos - but no image yet.

Wow, I'm sorry I haven't posted here in such a long time! I'm having some bad computer problems, (ask Marty if you want full details), and I've got a knew one on the way, so once it's installed I'll be here more regularly.
Anyway, I've got a quick question. I just ordered Quilting with the Muppets from the library today through an interlibrary loan. What page is Richard's quilt on so I can point it out to my mom?

Thanks, catch ya later.

Hi, Kate, nice to see you back!

Let's see, where in the book is the section on Richard's quilt...hmm, I don't know the exact page number but it's somewhere in the second half of the book, in the section that deals with the quilts made by the Muppet crew. I'd say Richard's quilt is the fourth or fifth quilt mentioned in that section.
