Yeah I mean, you have to learn in a timely manner of course, you can't take forever. But it's also not a good idea to assume you get it and stop listening, which is something a lot of people do, lol.
I got to watch The Secrets of the Muppets at The Museum last night! For anyone who doesn't know it was originally an episode of The Jim Henson Hour, and was basically a behind the scenes special revealing how the Muppets work. I used to have it on tape when I was younger, when it was shown on Nickelodeon's Muppet Matinee (they need that again!).
It was cool to see Jim walking through the workshops. But a little sad too; everything was successful and fine, but you know it would all change in such a short time. Still, it's fascinating to learn how all the effects work. And how the Muppets are a combination of puppetry and Television tricks. And '80s computer graphics are always fun to watch! Lol
I didn't know who Richard was when I first saw the special years ago. Obviously he didn't work much on JHH so he wasn't there when they introduced all the puppeteers. You can see him in archive footage about three times.
When I look back to when I first saw the special, I just remember the guy wearing the newsboy cap during the Viking Pig number. I remember thinking, "I love those hats! He looks so hip!" Lol. Years later, when I realized that was Richard, it definitely brought a smile to my face. I also remember the guy who almost got hit with the motorcycle during "I Get Around." Lol But I didn't realize that was the same person.
And finally during the demonstration of how the Gorgs work, I remember thinking, "Oh, he must play Junior Gorg!" I was surprised that he seemed so young looking, lol.
But my most favorite part of the whole show is seeing Jim and Kermit during the credits at the end, with Jim having Kermit wave goodbye, so sweet!
While I was there, I also took the opportunity to watch Puppetman again, lol.
Rita: Is it true? Is it true?
Del (using Earl): If it is, will ya leave?
Crew member (to Del, a puppeteer of course): Break an arm! Hehe
:: Del is not amused, lol::
