Went to the Jukebox Beatles Tribute concert this past Saturday with my first younger brother and best friend. We had a great time listening and singing along, but the best part was that they had as a special guest Jose Feliciano live and in person. :sing: :flirt:  :halo:

That’s wonderful. It’s great so many puppeteers are nice people in person.
I’ve met a good number of puppeteers over time as well as musicians. Unfortunately, a few musicians in real life turn out to be real dirtbags.
Puppeteers have a higher...
Niceness ratio, for lack of a better term.
Cheers on your birthday!
I've wanted to meet some over the last few years. Noel for example. I wanted to meet him at the Great Philadelphia Comic Con last year, wasn't able to go. Steve Whitmire was one I really wanted to meet in Virginia a few weeks ago, again wasn't able to go.

But I will tell you, this is the year I meet one of the Muppet Performers, whether it be Steve, Noel, or any of them, I'm meeting at least one this year. That's one of my goals for this year.

I hope you do. Back when Sesame turned 40, the puppeteers made a lot more appearances. There was a lecture at William Patterson University here in New Jersey and on one stage you had Caroll Spinney, Martin Robinson, Fran Brill, Kevin Clash, AND Frank Oz. Unfortunately none stayed after for meet and greet. It would’ve been a mob scene.
I eventually got to meet Caroll and Fran another time, along with Noel MacNeal. My fortunes have been so good to meet Caroll on three occasions. Never met a nicer man.

it’s funny how people have always been nice to Caroll, there might be a crowd, but queues are orderly and no chaos. But the two times I saw Frank Oz, it was a stampede. It was unbelievable people were pushing and shoving to meet him (I only saw him from a distance. Never actually met him).
Still, I hope this is your year, and you get to meet some of them.
(Big Hint!) If you do get to meet one, they’re used to signing autographs and such. If you draw at all, give them something of yours. They’ll never forget you for that.
Best of luck to you. Keep us posted. 8)

I was in Disney World on my honeymoon and they had a Beatle tribute band. My hair was long enough so I could pass for one of them. They actually got me on stage for two songs- Day Tripper and Drive My Car. So for one brief moment I was part of the band playing Lead Tambourine!

then we broke up over musical differences. 😋

I can’t draw to save my life, but I can try.
I’ll keep that in mind.
(And yes, I’ll keep all of you posted)

If you can’t draw, write them a card. They don’t have to open it right there. But it’s something that came from you, and they’d be touched by that.
My best friend and I worked on a picture for Caroll Spinney. I drew it, she painted it. I was able to hand it to him when I met him, and he was truly moved. When my friend saw him a few months later in Seattle, she made him another one. I understand Caroll had a room in his house with pictures and cartoons from fans. Presumably they’re still there.

I have a friend who went out to Michigan and brought back a case of Vernor's ginger ale. This stuff is like champagne, it's fantastic.
They sell it in the Midwest, and down South, but not in the Northeast.
It's nice you can still find local stuff around the country you can't find back home.
The soft drink industry might be dominated by Coke and Pepsi, but there's still room for little guys like Vernor's.
I f*cking love Vernors!!!!!!

That’s the great thing about traveling around this country. You find stuff you can’t get at home.
Years ago when I went to Tennessee, I enjoyed shopping at Kroeger’s, and Piggly Wiggly (one of the first supermarket chains in this country).

And down South, there’s a Waffle House on every corner. Next door to Hardee’s. 😃
