Debbie Spinney commented on one of Matt Vogel's Facebook posts today that it was actually Caroll who discovered the song "Mahna Mahna" and suggested to Jim that he turn it into a Muppet song.
Wow! Very interesting piece of info. And then it became one of the songs The Muppets are most known for.
I'll be honest though. I used to think that was an original muppet song when I was a kid.
Yeah, same, for the longest time. The first time I ever heard it was during the end credits of The Street We Live On.

I recently learned these puppet videos were made by Frankie Cordero with some friends. After finding that out, I tried to recognize the puppeteers' movements. I think the pink guy lip-syncing to Freddie Mercury is Ryan Dillon. Something about the way he moves tells me it's Ryan.

Those are pretty great in their simplicity.

I sure wish I had puppeteer friends.

Danny Tamberelli wasn't the original voice of Arnold in The Magic School Bus at first and he didn't join the show until Season 2.

I remember watching that video way back when it first came out. I was only 14 and in 7th grade at the time, but wow, I remember thinking these guys were really good at imitating voices.... Until I learned they were just lip-synching to the (pretty crappy) album version of that song.

Still some cool puppets none the less.
