*sigh*I can appreciate fan loyalty, even if I believe it's misplaced. It is a very nice gesture to want to stick by someone.
Steve got to perform Kermit for 27 years. I don't think they're just "passing Kermit around." It was time for a change.*sigh*
I'm sorry and maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but I feel the need to make a stand.
Something Steve said was so simple yet at the same time so complex. You have to have a Puppet and a performer they go hand in hand. You can not pass a grounded character like kermit around and expect them to stay true to thier character. Yes Jim created Kermit, but he is no longer with us and choose Steve to take on Kermit's role. It was not something he did lightly or at the drop of a hat. It took Steve a long time to get comfortable with Kermit, and to even start to make him grow. So if Disney is insisting that this be the way things are Matt needs a lot more time. He is defently not perfect with Kermit yet, and my fear is that Disney will not be patient and could recast Kermit again.
Jim performed him for 35. Is there some sort of a time-limit that people can perform Kermit? If so, then Steve hadn't even reached Jim's amount of time, so how do we know when it's time for a character to change performers?Steve got to perform Kermit for 27 years. It was time for a change.
The point was that replacing Steve was hardly a rushed decision.Jim performed him for 35. Is there some sort of a time-limit that people can perform Kermit? If so, then Steve hadn't even reached Jim's amount of time, so how do we know when it's time for a character to change performers?
I don't agree, but I respect your take on it.And I'm not saying that you prefer Matt out of prejudice against Steve. All I mean is that it's about the same on both sides.
Personally, I'm not in camp Steve or camp Matt - I just know a Kermit voice when I hear one. Jim was perfection, Steve was great, Matt will likely be as well once he gets the hang of it. He doesn't sound perfect now, but he doesn't sound terrible either. I'm remaining positive.
I understand how you feel. But, please keep an open mind towards Matt. You say Steve needed to be replaced!!! Bull! Steve even said himself he felt he was in the prime of his career! He was no where near ready to retire, and should not have been replaced.
Allow me to be devil's advocate for once and say - of course Steve would say that. You say Steve needed to be replaced!!! Bull! Steve even said himself he felt he was in the prime of his career! He was no where near ready to retire, and should not have been replaced.
