Am I the only one who thinks that Superbad is just another attempt to make another Animal House or Porky's?

Not sure what you mean exactly, as I see Animal House and Porky's as two completely different kinds of movies. I guess they both have a lot of mostly mindless kids trying to get laid, but to me, that's not the driving theme behind Animal House. . .but regarding Superbad, I suppose that it is also about kids trying to get laid (I'm guessing from the trailer), but it should be drastically different from either of those movies that you mention.

Superbad is produced by Judd Apatow, the mastermind behind the great TV shows Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, and also the films the 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. His projects are invariably about, principally, humor, but also about awkwardness and a kind of atypical honesty. I don't think that all 3 of those traits could be applied to either of the movies that you mention. Maybe the commercials are going for a Porky's or Animal House-lovers crowd, but I think those expecting such will be sorely disappointed (actually, they probably won't, as word of mouth is that this movie is one of the funniest things out this year).

Superbsd isnt like Porky's or Animal House. It follows the lines of American Grafitti and American Pie. Not as good as Grafitti but better than Pie

I enjoyed it. Suprisingly I think it is very funny but you are still able to connect with the characters. Very raunchy though.
