Oh I see,but how does a very non-human cartoon character promote obesity? might as well get rid of pigs and hippos from all children's media if that's the case.
I've always said that the war on obesity leads to clumsy bandaid solutions that come from panic and not from careful thinking and planning.

However, childhood obesity is actually down. Maybe some of the actual careful thought based decisions worked while I'd say all of the panic stricken crap failed all over.

My parents refuse to get me a new iPod Touch.

I want to get a new one because I don't like the one that I have right now and I want more Storage on it.

My parents refuse to get me a new one because they keep telling me to remove apps and I do not want to remove apps.

Listen. We're all trying to be polite about this, but... if your home life drama is about not getting iPods or getting punished for something and having the iPod you currently have taken away, well... consider yourself lucky.

Some of us can barely afford going to a movie once in a while at a cheap theater yet. There's one tiny little guilty pleasure I allow myself that costs five bucks a throw (Mixels...it just had to be Mixels...freaking Billy West and Jess Harnell doing voice overs for it...too hard to resist), and I'm not fiscally secure enough to get more than one a week. Otherwise, I'd buy all nine of the darn things, or at least a tribe a week. Being an adult, especially one that likes juvenile things he shouldn't (then again, juvenile things are actually pretty darn cheap), kinda ...no...really sucks. One day I'm actually going to be able to afford things and will probably get his life together and have to (cringes) sell a lot of this stuff for much, much, much less than its worth. That's scary. Things are things, but all the money and effort to get things that are sadly ephemeral are in the end meaningless. Even if I clutch onto these things, I'm going to die someday. What's going to happen to it? Is someone just going to throw all I worked for as a collector away? I know that in the end it's meaningless, but I still want stuff, and it's stuff I should have outgrown long ago. Then there are times I look at the stuff I have and just think...why? Why am I still liking this stuff? Why am I unable not to? Why do I want more? Where do I put this stuff and do I have a problem? It's...it's staggering.

If your parents refuse to buy you a new iPod, you can always go out and get a job. If no one will hire you because of your age you might have to resort to odd jobs like babysitting, raking leaves (before it turns into snow-shovelling season), chores, whatever it takes.

If you buy something with money you earned, you might appreciate it a little more. Maybe not. That's up to you.

It's really hard for me to get a job right now.

So D'ump (and Bristol Palin too, for whatever reason) is goin' off about Political Correctness Gone Mad, saying that Starbucks is un-American for serving their drinks in cups that say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas," and that once he's president, he will make it politically incorrect to say "Happy Holidays."

So I guess this means we're to just assume that everyone we encounter during the holidays automatically celebrates Christmas, and that we can't wish Jews Happy Hanukkuh, or African-Americans Happy Kwanzaa, further proving my point that D'ump doesn't want anyone in this country who isn't a wealthy, gray-haired, white Christian.

First off, I don't get why Bristol is a bastion of morality. It's like, oh, she didn't get an abortion. That's a freaking low bar if I ever heard one.

But I was trying to stay out of this for a while, but with his latest addition of Islamophobia, he just keeps crawling under my skin. His SNL appearance was self serving and unfunny and all the "look how human he is because they're allowing him to make fun of himself" was thrown out the window when the expected self-deprecation was (and this is what bugs me about being on a family site, I can't use the real metaphor I want) essentially the cast being forced to star in unfunny skits and throwing out compliments about how great he was, and not even ironically... it was the biggest egostroke ever, and it shouldn't have come as a surprise. Cracked took a look at it, and they're more eloquent than I can be.

But the thing is I want to be disgusted, I want to be angry, but it's just... I'm not surprised at all by him, nor does anything he'll do from now until he becomes the almighty dictator of the Trumpnited Trumps of Trumpmeritrump, and somehow manages to out Distopia every Post-Apocalyptic film ever made. The truth of the matter is, I don't think he's personally racist at all, but he knows his base is. And that's somehow worse. He knows to play the worst of the farthest of the far far far right, and he's basically just saying what they want to hear, thus validating the worst in these people. And while all the Godwins law in the world has been thrown at politics and politicians, he's sadly the most apt case. Pandering to a not very bright vocal minority through racism, hate, and fear. And yet even he knows that the Iraq War was the dumbest freaking thing the country ever did. If there's one thing I can give the right credit for, it's dumping Jeb Bush the second he said "Hurr Durrr... I'd do the Iraq War too!" And also, as scary and crazy as Trump seems, if you sit down and listen to what some of the other candidates have to say, they actually out crazy him. Which is frightening. We have at least 3 candidates that have no political experience, one of them ran a country into the ground and fired a crapload of people because she's not a good business woman. I never liked the "Let's run the country like a business" bit, but if we have to go down that route, can't we get someone who actually ran a business competently? And the rest of the candidates are extreme right wing or at least have one slightly liberal idea that makes them a non-starter. It's... horrifying. Especially considering even the left is on the right now, and that's considered ubersocialism. It's like, why did we hate Nixon again? That one thing and expanding a war? He would be considered too liberal to be a Democrat now.
