Why don't we all chill out about this whole gay issue!!!!

Personnaly it has never worried me about people who are 'straight', 'Bi' or Gay.

So I be ****** if I am going to spend time worrying about two muppets who happen to share an apartment in NYC.

Now lets get back to some positive muppet chat!!

first off, what "dumb assumptions" are you speaking of? this is a decent sized thread, if you don't specify, you're the one who looks silly. no offense, just the truth.

secondly, saying that someone must be "drunk or stoned"...yeah, bad idea. i understand you may have strong feelings one way or another, but that's just a respect thing. you wouldn't like it if it was said about you. i certainly didn't like it when it was said about me (seeing as i have never been, nor will i ever be, either one), and whoever you are commenting on probably doesn't appreciate it either.

Nah! I didn't mean to offend anyone. It's just that the Ernie and Bert thing really ticks me off because the dude that came up with that was probably an Anti-Muppet guy! I hear tell of some bad independant film called "Ernest and Bertram" in which they portray them as Homosexual, Suicidal, and probably pot heads or something (I go to college! TRUST me on this one! Even if people are not stoned or Drunk, they have loooong hours and work nights, burning the midnight oil) But really, that's as bad as Osama Bin Laden or Hitler with Bert! I mean, really. Some southern preacher made this assumption and tried to BoyCott Sesame Street (I've heard stories that some people boycotted this show when it first came out because it had so many different races in it!) Being anti-gay and anti-racial is bad enough, but to make idiotic assumptions that aren't true really aggarvates me, so you can see why I went overboard.

What I mean is, I'm not hassling college students that tend to overthink cartoon shows and kid's programming (I lay awake at night with stupider stuff, like how Fat ALbert shouldn't be able to even walk, the way they draw him), I'm hassling adults who put too much into kid's shows, especially unfounded stuff!

Ahhhh, you never went to one of the nation's top party schools!!!! We were voted the Number Two Party School in the nation quite a few years running. Then when I finished up, we were off the list. Cowinkydink? I think not!  :stick_out_tongue:

Care to shake hands with a fellow doofus? I don't go out to parties AT ALL. I just can't see the appeal in going out and getting so sloshed you can hardly walk. Heck, I've earned the reptuation on my floor already (who knows; it might have spread to the entire dorm at this point) for being "the quiet one." (I'm serious; that's what they told my roommate I was when she first asked people about me!)

Well, I don't want to give my life story, as it would bore a few, and rivet most, but truth be told, all the way thru High School I was the quiet one. Picked on at times, shy more often then not, and never one to speak up or be vocal. The only thing I was known for was my sharp tongue and sense of humor, which landed me in Dentention everyday and weekends my last year of high school. (I literally spent more time there then class)

Anyway, I took a break before college, and dreaded stating back to school. I was petrified. Low and behold a funny thing happened. I came out of my shell (coming out jokes can continue further on in this thread, its a set up....Byron, Chris, Jamie and Luke can take the punchlines), and really started to find myself. At the two colleges I attended, I was student body president, the most listened to radio jock in the area, acting in plays, etc etc etc. I even went to parties!!! Gasp.

So I say to you self professed wall flowers, "be bold, get to know people, find your "crowd" (but don't think they are the only people you should hang with), and go out and have fun." You'd be surprised how many other people are in the same boat as you are. For a kid like me to be at a school that is 75% old southern, 80% rich kids, and 90% Greek (i.e. Sororities and Frats), and be none of the above, I managed to fit in pretty darn tooting well.

I look back at how much I've changed and grown in the last few years, and I don't even recognize myself at time. College is the most magical time in your life (not H.S.), so take advantage of every opprotunity that comes your way. Get involved with things and have fun!

There are a lot of us on the board here that can give you tips about things to look into getting involved with!

Well...things are a little different here in art school. There aren't any Frats or anything, that I know of. In fact, I go to the very SAME art school that Caroll Spinney went to! Man, I go to the same school as BIG BIRD!!!!!

You don't need a frat. I have no use for them personally (just because they are an entirely different creature in the south). But regardless, that doesn't mean you can't socialize with greeks, but since you don't have any, no worries there.

I take it then you are at a small liberal arts college?

I don't do parties either. I don't get invited, which is good, 'cause the whole "party" thing isn't my style. I have much more fun acting like a goofball...
