It’s
time to play the music! It’s time to light the lights! It’s
time to raise the curtain on the all-new MONOPOLY: Muppets Collector’s
Edition board game from USAOPOLY! Kermit
the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the entire Muppets cast of characters bring
all their zaniness to America’s favorite board game, allowing Muppet
fans for the first time to buy, sell and trade the most popular locations
in the Muppet world.

The game kicks
off with property spaces depicting the S. S. Swine Trek and Veterinarians
Hospital, taking the place of traditional Mediterranean Avenue and Baltic
Avenue, respectively. Players circle the colorful game board while encountering
the trademark “Just Visiting/Jail,” “Free Parking”
and “Go To Jail” spaces MONOPOLY players already know. They
make their way around to Miss Piggy’s Dressing Room and Kermit the
Frog’s Swamp, which take the place of Park Place and Boardwalk as
the most valuable properties in the game. Muppet characters both old and
new, famous and obscure are proudly featured in the game, from Rowlf the
Dog and the Muppet Newsman to Pepe and Johnny Fiama. Every
aspect of MONOPOLY: Muppets Collector’s Edition has been lovingly
customized by Muppet fans for Muppet fans. Every deed card features photos
which capture the unique personality of each individual Muppet. Lew Zealand
is depicted tossing a fish. Gonzo dangles precariously in full daredevil
attire, complete with skis, cape, and Camilla tucked snugly under his
arm. Statler and Waldorf look at each other with a gaze that seems to
ask, “How did we ever get mixed up in this crazy game?”
Replacing
the MONOPOLY game’s customary Chance and Community Chest cards are
two animals that are never in short supply in the Muppets’ world:
Chickens and Penguins. Each Chicken or Penguin card features the same
directives as found in traditional MONOPOLY, but with a wacky Muppet twist.
Need to “Get Out of Jail Free”? It can happen when Sweetums
breaks through the cell wall. But be careful not to interrupt Miss Piggy’s
beauty sleep, or you could end up right back behind bars. If you find
yourself heckled by Statler and Waldorf, you’ll have to pay for
counseling, but if you survive a dinner cooked by the Swedish Chef, or
help him foil the dreaded lobster banditos, you’ll collect a nice
reward.
Taking
the place of the MONOPOLY game’s traditional Railroads are four
famous modes of Muppet transportation. Who could forget Muppet treks via
bicycle, motorcycle, hot air balloon or automobile? Now you can own them
all as you make your way to Muppet destinations such as Fozzie Bear’s
Comedy Club, Beauregard’s Supply Closet, Electric Mayhem’s
Stage and Statler and Waldorf’s Balcony. Build up the properties
you own with Movie Sets and Movie Studios to increase property values
and drive rent costs as high as Miss Piggy’s ego.
How could
you buy or sell Muppet properties without Muppet money? Custom bills feature
favorite Muppets, from Kermit’s visage on the prized $500 dollar
bill, to Sam the Eagle posing with George Washington-like prominence on
the $1.
Custom
collectible pewter playing pieces of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, Fozzie,
Gonzo and the Swedish Chef allow players to take on the persona of a favorite
Muppet as they play to “own it all” in this first collaboration
between USAOPOLY and the Jim Henson Company. Suggested retail price for
the game is $35.95. MONOPOLY: Muppets Collector’s Edition will be
available in June online at www.boardgames.com, as well as this Fall at
specialty retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Virgin Entertainment.
