EM.TV & Merchandising AG will not sell Muppets until 2002

EM.TV & Merchandising AG, the ailing German media group listed on Frankfurt's Neuer Markt, will not sell Jim Henson Co, the Muppets merchandising company, before the end of 2001. In late June 2001, then chairman Thomas Haffa had announced that Jim Henson would be sold by the end of the year.

The delay is regarded as a sign that EM.TV is having difficulty selling the subsidiary for an acceptable price. Market experts claim that very few investors have so far expressed an interest in acquiring Jim Henson. Management at EM.TV revealed last weekend that the new deadline for the sale of the subsidiary was October 2002.
