of EM.TV & Merchandising AG EM.TV & Merchandising AG, the German media company, will open a representative office in London, UK. The market leader in kids entertainment thus expands its position in one of the world's most creative and competitive media markets. The representative office will be based in the London offices of The Jim Henson Company and serve as a strategic interface between the two companies. This way, EM.TV will make significant progress in the integration of the two companies with a view to developing further synergies. The representative office will also serve as the central point of coordination for the purchase and sale of TV content in the Junior portfolio for the British market. Also, the office will be the point of contact for the British co-production partners and TV channels. Additional tasks may arise in the context of EM.TV's future business activities. "By making this move, we will strengthen our presence in one of the most important European markets and further expand our position as a global media company. Today already, Junior programs have a presence on the major British channels such as the BBC, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Our London representative office will enable us to further exploit this potential," said Thomas Haffa, Board Chairman of EM.TV & Merchandising AG. By establishing the UK representative office, EM.TV will make further inroads into an important media market, complementing the company's network in the Benelux countries, France, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Israel, Australia and America. The London office will be headed by Rainer Tschierschwitz (34), Senior Vice President, General Manager UK. Formerly in charge of TV Sales and Acquisition at EM.TV's Unterföhring headquarters, he has been instrumental in building up EM.TV's global TV content trading activities since 1993. In 1997, Rainer Tschierschwitz was appointed head of this division. |
