Surprising
us all, German Media Company, EM.TV buys the company from the Henson family
for $680 million. The outlook was optimistic on reviving the Henson franchise,
but by the end of the year EM.TV was experiencing financial trouble. They
sold the rights to the Sesame Street characters to Sesame Workshop for
$180 million.
