JHC wins big at the Emmy Awards By
Brian Knatchbull The Jim Henson Company's "Muppets Tonight" and the NBC miniseries "Merlin" in which The Jim Henson Company worked on were successful winners at last Saturday's Creative Arts portion of the 50th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. It will be broadcast on TV Land cable network on September 11. "Merlin" received 4 trophies. One for Make-Up, Costume Design - which was won by Ann Hollowood who also worked on "Jim Henson's The Storyteller," Special Visual Effects and for Art Direction which Roger Hall won who also worked on "Jim Henson's The Storyteller." In the Best Children's category "Muppets Tonight!" shared the award with Nickelodeon's "Nick News Special Edition: What Are You Staring At?" Congratulations to all the winners and a special congratulations to "Muppets Tonight" for their win. Now The Jim Henson Company can be proud in knowing that both "The Muppet Show" and "Muppets Tonight" have been recognized for their quality and enjoyment they have brought to many. NBC, which leads the web field with a total of 86 Emmy bids, bagged 12 wins in the 52 creative arts categories awarded Saturday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The remaining awards in top program and performer categories will be handed out Sept. 13 in a four-hour kudocast carried live on NBC. The creative arts awards ceremony will be telecast for the first time ever Sept. 11 on the TV Land cable network.
