Another sort of OK episode... Here's the rundown.
Episode 4147: Gabi, Telly and Zoe Have a Picnic.
Cold Opening: Word on the Street: Murray Monster asks about "mystery".
Street Story: The Telly and Zoe Detective Agency attempt to solve the case of the missing melon.
Song: "Eat Your Favorite Fruits".
Celebrity: Word on the Street Explanation: "Mystery".
Animation: Jane Tuesday searches for a healthy snack.
Healthy Food Song: "Apple".
Muppets/Celebrity: Elmo meets the New York Jets in a sort of Elmo's World segment outside of Elmo's World itself and then practice the alphabet.
Song: "The First Time You Try".
Letter of the Day: O, with Prairie Dawn and Cookie Monster.
Animation Song: "Soul O".
Song: "Say O!"
Muppets: Song: "Friends" by Abby, Rosita and Zoe.
Film: Girl takes her grandma's instant camera to the park.
The Count's Counting Organ: 7, with the sensational seven dancing chickens and a slithering 7.
Film: Kids hand clap up to 7, adding one new kid with each new number.
Animation: Seven little cats.
Song: "They're Not Alive" to a tune similar to "It's In His Kiss" or "The Shoop-Shoop Song" by Betty Everett.

Muppets: Desperate Houseplants.
Song: "Water" sung by Jerry Nelson.
Animation Story: The Cat who Hated the Rain.
Film/Word: Cat.
Elmo's World: Insects.
Bedtime Story: Trash Gordon: Chapter 269: Planet of the Stinky Sock.

They get credit in my book for an Inspector Gadget...well, maybe not straight parody, maybe allusion?...in the street scene, from what I recall of the old cartoons. Gadget's nice, Penny (with Zoe in that role) was always more intelligent than her uncle Gadget, who often came to bizarre conclusions, such as "the teddy bear did it." And, the goofy, comical idea of disguising himself as a melon was kind of like Gadget, too, IIRC. (And, like the show that inspiredInspector Gadget, "Get Smart," from what I've heard, though I've never seen "Get Smart.")

Otherwise, yeah, not much to this one. Now that I'm getting busier I won't have much time to watch anymore again, but it was interesting. Great to see Big Bird with the zero in one, though, this year.

You know, if there were any good time to have brought back Sherlock Hemlock, that mystery episode would have been it.

I knew it.... I knew it. Everytime we have something someone always brings up a retired character. (sighhh). I agree it would have been fun to see Sherlock, but I guess if we ever want to see him again, we need someone to play him besides Jerry.

That said, pretty funny little episode. Telly disguised as a cantalope, Zoe in a beige Tutu.... and then that bit with Elmo and the Football team...

"Dorothy plays football?"

"No! Dorothy's a fish. She's the coach!"

That one had me on the floor cracking up. Almost an adlib, it sounded like.

The rap soung about fruit I didn't particularly like... however, the fact they shot some muppet stuff out on an open street like that was just magical. Sesame needs to do more things like that and "word on the street." It may be staged, but it gives it a more realistic feel than just taping stuff in the studio.

Great to see Abby finally mingling with the other girls. I atually hope she sticks around.

And the Cat who hated rain. Another great VO job by Andrea Martin. is it just me, or did the cat sound a lot like Queen Slug for a Butt from Earthworm Jim? Funny she used almost that exact type of voice.

I skipped the ending stuff, since I already have seen it.

All and all a decent episode. no Ernie and Bert, though... some of the filmed inserts stunk, as usual. I'd love to see them retire that "instant camera" film. Not just cuz those things are obsolete, but that was a dull skit and the acting is terrible, even for kids.

I think the Jane Tuesday skits are cute and all, but that Crayon Shin-chan type brother of her's is annoying and just weird.

Liked the story in todays episode. Liked the song with Abby too. I like Tellys new identity but I wonder in it will last?

Telly once again brought the show up to the realm of greatness. I just love him.

Hmmmm. I haven't seen that one and I haven't read about it in the TV listings. I guess my local station is running them out of order. That might have a little to do with the fact that it's a pledge drive month. I'm hoping they'll show the new eps at a time when they can show them without interruptions.

It was another ok episode. I enjoyed the Inspetor Gadget thing with Telly and Zoe. Cool to see they still refure to older shows. But all in all i enjoyed everything i saw. Loved the new fruit song and Rostia, Zoe and Abby's new song too. Keep it up Abby. Hope to see you stay forever. At least till they don't need her anymore.

Seriously, does anyone else like that going out on the street and "filming" a segment with muppets thing they're doing with Murray monster and the Fruit rap? I just think that's absolutely wonderful. They need to do this more. not just with SS, but with all the Muppets.
