I was worried when they started with Elmo's Tricycle song. I was afraid we wouldn't even get a street story today. I don't get why they even started with that, since Elmo then acts surprised when he sees us as he welcomes us to Sesame Street. They should have just played that later in the show.

Even though there was a good amount of Big Bird, I didn't like the story very much. It was just pretty boring. Thankfully they had some great inserts today. "Furry Happy Monsters" is always fun to watch, and I don't think I've seen "Imagine That" since I was a little kid. Abby's segment was pretty fun too.

Like everyone else, I loved the Grover sketch. We definitely need more segments like that.

Missed the "Elmo's Tricycle" episode. My DVR didn't record it so i missed it. But cool to know that Big Bird was in there. I'll see it when they rerun it again. But to talk about the Tutu episode.

Episode 4140:
Storyline: It was cool to see Gina, Maria and Luis and others too but just not my cup a tea but it was still a neat thing. I did laugh when Oscar came on and got mad that Slimey had one on then he did. It just made me laugh.

Segments:
Ok. Cool to see some older skits and others too. The Grover one was cool to see. And to know it was all an CD player playing all those classical music. That was cute to see.

But that's my two cents and everything else. I wished that Dish Network would get that Sprout but it doesn't and wished they would go ahead and get it. I would love to see some older skits and everything else they show.

Ironically, back when I heard that Jerry Nelson would be semi-retiring, and when it was rumored that he'd only continue performing The Count (before it was revealed that he was just retiring from the Muppets, and not from his Sesame Street Muppets), I thought that Martin Robinson would probably be a good performer for Fat Blue, and in episode 4140 he had the exact voice that I thought Robinson could do for him (it may be a bit rough, but at least the attitude's right).
I agree there. If that really was Marty who voiced FB in the ballet episode it did sound like Jerry voicing him. I actually didn't know the voice was different until whatshisname posted on that. I think Marty would be a good new performer for Fat Blue. The question is, whoelse could do the Count?

I also missed that episode.... Sounds like it's at least a little more interresting than the previous one.

David Rudman did Fat Blue in The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland.

Episode 4141 review

The good points:

  • I was glad to see a new letter segment this Thursday, but...did anybody else find it ironic that Thursday's episode had an "R" cartoon that played on the "pirates/Arrr!" stereotype, a few episodes after the pirates in the debut episodes complained about the same stereotype?
  • Grover's "8" magic trick was the highlight of the episode in my opinion; Sesame Street needs more new material with the old-school Muppets who haven't been retired yet. I was also happy to see the writers break out of the "same characters teach the same things every day" rut: numbers may be the Count's specialty, but he doesn't have a monopoly on them!
  • The Elmo's World segment on bikes tied in nicely with the street story; I've noticed a lot of tacked-on EW's this season which have nothing to do with the overall theme of the episode. (What's the word on the Street? Chaos! :boo: )
The bad points:

  • The Fix-It Shop references and gags were a bit heavy-handed...besides, you'd think Big Bird would know better than to sit on Elmo's trike (mentally, he's supposed to be about 7).
  • Working Abby Cadabby into the plot seemed awkward to me; she's certainly young enough for a tricycle, but a fairy goddaughter should be experimenting with her special ways of getting around. Her accident with the wand (turning Horatio into a pumpkin, instead of changing the milk) really should have been a separate episode plot.
  • The show needs more new letter and number material; most of the segments in this episode are the same ones that the target audience's big brothers/sisters watched a few seasons ago.
Overall, I'd give this episode a 5.5 on a scale of 1-10: it lives up to some of my hopes for the season, but some junk is still holding it back.

I have been having this complaint the last couple of seasons myself. The problem is either we have really bad old ones or really bad new ones (that hip hop bit with the searching for the number of the day? Brutal) I really wish I could apply for a job writing and directing some cartoons for them. I have great ideas. And I would even do them cheap.

They do not accept submissions, but do you think someone would like to take a look at my demo reel?

Hmmm. You'd probably have to apply for a job as an animator there first (and even then, they might require credentials related to kids' TV). Here's hoping an opening turns up soon!

I think what is really key about todays show is that Kermit was on! he hasnt been on Sesame Street in so long. Was this a new song? i sure hope so.
