Why is Dr. Teeth thought of as the Electric Mayhem leader?

After watching most of the episodes, ive noticed that Dr. Teeth is in the least of them of all of the E.C. characters including Zoot. Why is he thought of as the leader, and not Floyd?

Actually, Dr.Teeth is used more than Floyd in the First season.
It goes
Zoot
Janice
Animal
Dr.Teeth
Floyd
It wasn't till towards the end of the first season, Floyd was made into hippie he is now.
Also, Dr.Teeth is a much more complicated character to preform. With the sunglasses and the live hands. Plus, he's possibly the leader, for the fact Jim Henson voiced him.

As Joey points out, they were usually introduced as Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

As for Floyd making more appearances than Dr. Teeth, that's only because Floyd had more potential as a backstage character than some of the other members through the numerous wisecracks he had a tendency to make at the expense of his fellow performers.

Because that's just the way it is? most rock bands have lead singers.

Also, since Jim Henson performed Teeth, and since most of the other action stemmed from Kermit, they couldn't be performed together (except in pre-recorded musical numbers). So Floyd, Zoot, Animal and Janice all had more opportunities to develop than Teeth did.
