True. Thanks for the wise words. I always do like to believe the next year will be a fresh start. Sometimes a year turns out good or mixed, sometimes it just turns out plain cruddy. Just sucks though when it happens twice in a row, which it once has happened. (2008 and 2009 respectively). Thankfully though 2010 made up for it... Which 2011 later on was also a drag.

And this is one thing I've definitely learned. The people you meet can have a huge effect on your life positively or negativity. That certainly happened to me in 2011.

That's not a good place to be. And I've seen it with a few others on here at various times.
Even with Trump being president, you can't scale back your agenda from low expectations to no expectations.
Some had the attitude everything in their lives was just fine until Trump got elected. Nobody was depressed, nobody had anxieties, nobody had fears, then BAM! Now we'll have these neuroses until he gets impeached.

@LittleJerry92, you're one of the coolest people on here and I like you a lot. This is not addressed specifically to you, but for anyone who cares to read this.

No matter who is in the White House, you still have to live your life the best you can. You still have to treat people well, respect them, give them a little leeway, give them a little grace, and let God do the rest (if the mention of the "G" word bothers some of you, keep doing your best anyway).

It seems like every year for the past ten years, once the year is over, everybody breathes a sigh of relief. Bad stuff happens every year. Celebrities die. Loved ones die. Disasters happen. TV shows get cancelled. People lose jobs. Wars happen. And the Krapdashians are still here. UGH!

But when bad things happen and people get disappointed, they stop trying. They lose hope. They get stuck in a bad frame of mind where they can't move forward. Then it becomes REALLY EASY to complain, to feel like nobody has it as bad as you, other people have it good, but you got left out. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

I've mentioned this to Drtooth a number of times, for all the good it's done:
If you expect bad things to happen to you, that's exactly what will happen to you.
So if you expect good things to come your way, even if only half of them work out, 50% good is still better than 100% bad.

This wasn't the best year for me, either, but like the rest of you. I'm still standing.
Thank you for writing this. I, too, am having some personal struggles with a family member who I will not mention. Unfortunately he fits exactly into that mold you described: several bad things have happened to him and now he doesn't want to try to make things better for himself or the family. He comes off as either passive-aggressive or extremely argumentative and condescending (never a good combination). I wish he could expect good things to happen, but there's little I can do to change his mind. I still am hopeful in a way, though. And I'm not going to let his negativity change who I am, and what I want to do with my life. So thank you for putting this out there, and for reminding me that I can't let my life be controlled by negativity, even if someone important in my life knows nothing but that.

I am so ticked right now. I just checked Cartoon Network's schedule for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and on both days, all they will be playing are Teen Titans Go marathons and a TTG Christmas special. I just- screw CN. Seriously. I am so done with them and how they always shove that stupid show down everyone's throats. They don't even bother to play any other Christmas specials (or anything else, really) anymore. The only time I will ever watch them again is when SU, OK K.O., or Gumball is on. Or that new Craig of the Creek show that's coming soon. Otherwise, goodbye, Cartoon Network.

*heavy breathing* Phew. Sorry for overreacting, but I just really needed to get that out. Happy Holidays, everyone.

Seriously? Cartoon Network hasn't been good since 2004. I honestly don't even remember the last time I watched Cartoon Network.

In my opinion, CN started to go downhill in about 2008. They still had some good shows on like Chowder, bit you could tell that the channel was starting to get crappier and crappier.

For me,

Cartoon Network had its dud shows in between 2004 to 2009. By 2008, the only modern shows I really liked at the time were Chowder, 6teen and Total Drama - the latter 2 which weren't even CN originals.

2010 did pick up a bit with Adventure Time and Regular Show, and to an extent, MAD. Though MAD and AT I eventually lost interest in, and 2013 is where I feel like CN was just "eh."

Frankly the only show I like now is Steven Universe, but I only watch it online now.

I have also thought of checking out OK KO. But yeah, TTG is pretty much literal cancer on CN.

(And speaking of OK KO, I won't lie when I say I think Enid's got some nice hips. :shifty:)

No show, no matter how popular, should be aired so many times on a network that it prevents anything else from getting a chance. Even if Steven Universe got the same treatment as TTG, I'd get sick of it, too.

But if there's one thing everyone agrees on, it's whenever CN shows a live-action show. It gets met with nothing but vitriol the moment it airs. And who can blame them?

Also, I'm sure even the TTG writers are feeling burned out from creating so many episodes, if the 200th Episode Spectacular is anything to go by (which is really the 201st once you count the re-dubbed ep. of the original cartoon they did).

I take it back, I do remember the last time I watched CN now: November 2009, because that was when EEE's Big Picture Show aired, and it was kind of a big deal.
